    Albert Pujols - .316 average, 32 homeruns, 88 RBI, 82 runs, 11 stolen bases, .596 slugging, .410 on base

    Joey Votto - .320 average, 28 homeruns, 81 RBI, 83 runs, 9 stolen bases, .587 slugging, .420 on base

Votto and Pujols are the top 2 by a good bit.

Just 2 weeks ago Votto was well ahead of Pujols in numbers....now Pujols has maybe a slight advantage there.......6 more weeks of that could give a landslide for one or the other....or slumps by each could give Gonzalez or another person a chance.

Right now.....minimal edge to Votto IMO

Now, Votto. But Im guessing Albert will win, and will have the edge numbers wise Ultimately, whoever wins the division will likely take the MVP.

    not necessarily

When Ryan Howard won over Pujols....Pujols had at least the numbers of the overall stats and Pujols' team made the playoffs and Howards didn't.

I wasnt saying it was precedent, just how I think it would work this season. Mainly because they are battling for the same division.

I agree with you....just remember that...the year prior to that Andruw Jones had Pujols as muc as Howard may have had Pujols and Andruw's team made the playoffs and not too mention his exceptoinal defense was at teh time way better than Pujols.....as was Pujols to Howard.

Sometimes the voters do whatever the hell they want to.

They may get mad at Votto for being angry at umps too much and vote for the more even-keeld Pujols....who knows

Good point lol. I think awards like this at the end of the season have become kind of annoying in that regard. Gold Gloves are reputation anymore as well as Pro-Bowls and most ASG.

MVPs, etc are usually still pretty good and you dont have a head sracter that just didnt belong. But you do get some guys winning over others who have slightly better numbers based on cities played in/the big names/etc.

Maybe the whole Votto ASG snub will be enough recognition to get the votes:D

Pujols will be hurt by the fact that his season in 2010 doesn't compare to his 2008 or 2009. Now, the MVP award is for THIS season, but in comparison-sake, he will be hurt by his own greatness.

If the Reds win the division, Votto will be the favorite.

....and on the flipside their will be some voters who feel bad for making Pujols runner up all those years vs Bonds....and therefore vote for Pujols

Also, if Pujols doesn't win he'll bitch and moan about it. :)
  • Ironman92
    no....just Carpenter

Carpenter's actions/bitching will cost him the CY if he's close.....and he will be

This next month will be telling who the MVP will be. It will be either Pujols or Votto. Hopefully the MVP will be Votto.

Pujols can have the MVP as long as the Reds get in the playoffs.
