Nick Mangold Monday Night Football

Giants vs. Jets in the new stadium on ESPN 8:00pm

The teams jointly built the new stadium and will split revenues 50-50. They will meet each other in an exhibition game Aug. 16, with the Jets as host team when they honor the first six inductees to the Jets Ring of Honor: coach Weeb Ewbank, quarterback Joe Namath, tackle Winston Hill, running back Curtis Martin, receiver Don Maynard and defensive tackle Joe Klecko. By a coin flip, the Giants will host the stadium's first regular-season game, on Sept. 12, and the Jets will host "Monday Night Football" the following evening. Seats at the new stadium will have some of the best sightlines in the NFL, with the 50-yard-line seats just 46 feet from the field, the closest of any NFL stadium.

I am a huge Giants fan, and am excited to watch the game tonight to see the new digs. That being said, and it pains me to say this, from the outside this stadium is hideous. Don't understand the design one bit. I drove by it the other day, its just silver and blah, no charm to it at all (that being said, I hear the inside is SWEET):

You going to catch any Gi'nts games this year? I am thinking about making a trip out for a Jets home game at some point this season. Everything I've heard about the stadium is awesome.

That stadium is ginormous. It makes the old stadium, which was pretty big in its own way given that the field level wasn't that far below the surface, look like a HS stadium.

As for aesthetics, I don't know, the pic was taken well before construction was finished. The new cowboys stadium isn't that exciting on the outside either, but is so big you can actually see it driving to the freeway from the DFW airport road.

At any rate, it can't be worse than what they did to poor Soldier Field.

that time you misheard me, I said "water's cold"

    it's deep too!

The outside does look plain but wasn't the plan to have it change colors based on the team playing in it? Like it would glow green for the Jets and blue/red (I forget) when the Giants are at home. Here is the image I was thinking of:

Santonio Holmes and LT2 look pretty damn good in Jets green.

Would love to, but my only connection with Giants season tickets released them! Ughh, need to find a new connection, as these tickets will be extremely hard to come by this season for sure.

    Hell yeah they do.

Jason Taylor, not so much. :)

Sanchez needs to stop forcing it, the Jets D and running game can only get them so far this year.

Damn. I hope Eli is going to be alright after that hit. He's bleeding like crazy.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
Holy crap Eli! That was nasty.
  • BigAppleBuckeye
Damn Eli Manning, that was nasty. His head is gushing big time!
  • LJ
his "OH FUCK" face was insane!
  • Manhattan Buckeye
That's probably a good sign though, its just a cut, not a concussion or anything more serious. He knew he was bleeding severely in a split second.

    Whoa, Braylon Edwards good hands
  • just_a_swimmer
I've watched a bunch of Pre-season games starting Thursday or something and all of them had the starting QB's play at least 2 drives even Payton and most of them even more then that. My point, the Browns staring QB was so good he only needed 1 series. Heaven forbid he gets his feet wet a bit. I don't care I hate Mangenous.

So far this has the feel of a reg. season game. Can't last much longer.

Fireman Ed did a good job of retraining himself from making the Giants fan bleed like Eli.
