Reds Vs. Marlins: Game 3

13 pitch 6th for Homer makes a 7th possible. How about some runs to put him in position to be the winning pitcher. Nope looks like Homer's day is done.

    6 Strong Innings for Bailey

    Cairo!!!!

    2 Run BOMB ... 2-0 Reds

That hurts to walk Paulino to load the bases with two outs after doing so well to get the first two outs with two on. Now Logan has to get a lefty PH out to escape.

But he does it, big inning to get out of.

And the Cubs take a 4-1 lead over the Cards!
  • mhs95_06
Cubs now up 5-1 and still likely to get more. How about the Reds play add on to get some breathing room so we won't see Coco at all!

So the Reds send a position player down to get a SP for today and Votto thrown out, Dusty uses a pitcher(Leake) to bat in a sac situation.

And Leake fails! I wonder if Dusty was going to have Leake hit for Ondrusek even if Jansih made a lead-off out?

Leake is your best bunter, he may have been up there even if a position player was available.

the fail, is not making him bunt.
  • mhs95_06
Uggla just missed tying it up on that fly out to CF to end the 8th, still 2-0. Cards behind 8-1 in the 4th. Which of the two games has the highest chance of reversing fortunes to the Reds disfavor?

Leake fouled of a bunt for strike 1, then offered but missed for the 2nd strike. Do you think he should have been asked to bunt on the 3rd strike? I thought trying the slug bunt after failing two tries was a good strategy in the face of Leake's failure on the first two bunt attempts.

Cordero comes in and gives a leadoff double to Stanton. Cool.
  • mhs95_06
And with Coco, promptly the tying run comes to the plate!
  • mhs95_06
OK Coco, now you got ahead of Ross, 0-2, don't nibble too much!

He did, and he walked him, bringing up the lead run to the plate.

Coco gets a call, for strike 3 to get a save and end the game!

And once again the reds are in first. Too bad it means nothing because the season is over. :(

I know, right? Really sucks to be in 1st place with no chance at anything to show for it.

Reds 67-51 now....didn't win game #67 until September 16 last year (67-79 17.5 games back)

    But it matter though *sigh*

Votto's ejection was very weak. I'm guessing MLB will have a word with him sometime tomorrow

Bailey looked great today. He even reached 95 mph a few times. I don't ever remember Bailey throwing that hard (consistently anyways)

Where are all the guys who were claiming the Reds season was over and that they are dead in the water now? haha. This is going to be a see-saw battle all season. I am kind of hoping that Lhslep comes back and tries to argue against 110+ games of stats with a 3 game sample too. smh

Cards have it cut down to 9-6 w/ 1 out in the 9th
  • osu45804
    9-7 now and the Cards have 2nd & 3rd w/ 2 outs

Cubs hold on for the win..... Back in 1st place alone

Just my opinion, but i think if you send a pitcher up to bunt, not a position player to hit, you should probably keep the bunt on to ensure it gets down. If he strikes out bunting lesson learned, but to let a pitcher swing away even with 2 strikes is questionable.

my 1st win of the year...now 1-3 on the season
