Reds Trade Chris Dickerson to Milwaukee for Jim Edmonds
-
SportsAndLadyDon't know how I feel about this?
-
The EnforcerI was ready to see Dickerson come back for the stretch, guess not now.
-
lhslep134The only way to beat the 2010 Cardinals is with 2006 Cardinals. Edmonds and Rolen.
I like the signing for this year, but for the future? We'll see. -
TODD_PACKERStill plays good D and will take a lot of Nixs' ABs
-
thedynasty1998Saw Dickerson in Columbus last week and the dude is a stud. Not sure if I like this move, guess time will tell.
-
justincredibleDamn, I love Dickerson.
George Grande immediately regrets retiring from FSN. -
darbypitcher22I'm not so sure how this will work out. Obviously another stick off the bench, but can he play CF and spell Stubbs?
-
Ironman92He's just been there and still knows how to do that.
Dickerson wasn't going to put anyone over the top. I wish him the best....seems like a great guy and looks like he has all the tools.....but they weren't on display often enough IMO.
Ah...Edmonds....one of my least favorite players for a long time....but ever since St Louis let him go I have far more respect for him. He wasted some of his longevity by diving way too much but his instincts in CF are one of the better of all-time. As soon as the ball was hit he knew where it was going to go and sometimes he'd make a nice catch and sometimes he'd play it into a top play....followed by a little rolling around in agony. Hitting wise he's just gotten smarter over the years. Wasn't too many years ago I watched Billy Wagner come in and buzz him with 2 pitches up around his head at about 99 and them threw 3 fastballs down the pipe and Jimmy went and sat down....a couple years later Wagner did teh same thing and on a 2 strike count Edmonds took him deep.
I always have appreciated his incredible ability......but hated him like few others especially while he was on the Cardinals (wasn't much of a Rolen fan either) .....now he's a Red......welcome aboard!
The only negative of this IMO is the first 3 or 4 games of Thom and Chris focusing on him being the best player in the history of the world....and they will.
Good luck to Dickerson......and hopefully ROlen and Edmonds can beat the Cards with a game winning hit by each this series. -

He'll be a corner outfield player -
Ironman92He'll be a scary ass bat off the bench and start some. I imagine he could still be the best Reds CF coming in on the ball....but nothing else. If Bruce is going to suck we have a viable fill in.
-
NateI like this move.
-
norwalkI "hated" Edmonds too..........looks like I like the guy now.
I like this move. Dickerson obviously has the upside and will be around a lot longer but it's not like we are bare in the outfield, Bruce, Stubbs and Heisley are plenty young plus whatever vets we sprinkle in so we should be ok for years to come. Another leader that plays hard and the right way should only help. -
se-alumI like him as a leader for our young outfielders! I was never that impressed w/ Dickerson.
-
osu45804I'm gonna take the wait and see approach with this trade for the moment...
-
daveNot a fan of this is Dusty plays him in center against lefties like tonight.
This reminds me of when the Cavs traded for Jamison and Hickson's minutes were gone. -
Ironman92Is your "is" supposed to be an "if"
Yes, hopefully Edmonds is ready to hit because I have a HUGE feeling Dusty will be overplaying him and giving him way too many benefits of the doubt -
gerb131Things that make you go hmmm.
-
Ironman92C&C Music Factory....1991ish
-
Ironman92oops sorry....wrong thread
-
Scarlet_FeverI see this as a more experience to the clubhouse move. I hope it works out well. I always hated him but now that he's with the Reds that can change.
-
Little DannyHmm.. Rolen, Isringhausen and now Edmonds. Who's next-- Chris Duncan?

Most likely Pujols or Wainwright. -
jordo212000I'm not exactly in love with this move, but Dickerson wasn't going to get the playing time he expected. Especially with Heisey coming on like he has. I'd say Edmonds will be a spot starter and bat of the bench. Something that he is comfortable with... Dickerson would have complained about his PT like he did during spring training.
Dickerson needs to spend less time complaining and more time producing and staying healthy -
wildcats20Wood will make his next start on the 19th. This was a planned move by the FO.
