Jeff Van Gundy: Miami Heat will break Chicago Bulls' win record

  • osu45804
... And challenge the Lakers 33 game win streak and never lose 2 games in a row this year... Dude is smoking something. Or did he just look to either Wade or Bron's eyes and get lost in their trance or something?

Sounds to me like he's angling for a new job.

I like JVG more now on ESPN commentating than anything else he has done. Dude knows his bball whether this happens or not who knows it could if they stay healthy and interested.

^^ He doesn't know much at all and when he commentates you can see why he has been fired multiple times from coaching. This statement is crazy because neither of those records are falling to this team with no good depth and an overrated PF whom people in the media think is some big star. They won't win the East this year, let alone 70 games.

So how many games will they win? Will this Heat team win less games then the last two Cavs teams? . Why can't this team win 70 games? I can see them getting 70 wins but not 33 in a row.

Yeah he looks like a credible and stable source.

Jeff was the last good coach the Knicks had. I know he led them to multiple playoff appearances and the finals in 99 I think it was. I think he took the Rockets to the playoffs as well.

Keep thinking that pal....who is going to beat them?
  • osu45804
Well right now the defending Eastern Conference Champions should be the favorite until beaten...
  • gibby08
They are the favorite, but they can't beat Miami
  • osu45804
Can't? Miami has 3 guys and back up players .... I see you've already drank the kool-aid as well
  • jordo212000
Not sure they will break any records but they will be very good.

This team will be better than the Cavs teams of the last two years. I honestly don't see how anything other than injury stops this team

Odds are that they won't but would anyone be surprised if they do?

The fact you said Bosh is overrated directly before stating he is so by the media implies that you also think he's overrated, which means you know absolutely nothing about basketball.

He has dropped 22+ and 10+ in 3 of the last 4 years and is undoubtedly a TOP 5 PF in this league. Is he the best? No, but he's definitely top 5.

For you to disagree is to mean you're extremely blinded by hatred for Bosh for joining the 3 egos regardless of whether you're a cleveland fan or not.

The Cavs won 60 last year with one good player and the rest a bunch of backups.

I've said this before, I think in year 2, if they don't suffer any injuries, they make a run at 73 wins. I know it's a long season, but they will be favorites in every game minus if they play in LA. Plus, these guys are still going to be hungry enough to not take the regular season for granted, so I think they stay motivated unlike teams like the Celtics and Lakers who couldn't care less about the regular season.

I don't think they will break CHI's 72 wins this year, but will challenge it in a year or two.

I also doubt they'll drop 3 in a row this year, but I bet they lose 2 in a row a few times at least. 33 straight seems more untouchable than 72 wins.

Also, everyone assumes they'll mesh just fine and the egos will all play nice. I thought something about Lebron's comment didn't seem right "I think we'll all be able to have our own individual spotlight". The question becomes if that combined spotlight is too big for one game/team, what happens?

I do think this is something that will be interesting to see how it plays out. I question how Lebron and Wade play together, but they might not be in enough close games for it to really matter "who gets the ball at the end of the game".

There is a reason Van Gundy is doing TV now.

There's a reason you are posting on Ohio Chatter and he is doing TV. I'll take Van Gundy's opinion over your's

    Because he chooses to?

The guy has a .575 career winning percentage, took an 8 seed to the finals, and went to the playoffs 9 times in 11 years as a head coach. It wouldn't take him long to get back into coaching if he wanted to.

He's had plenty of interviews too. He just hasn't found one that is intriguing enough for him to leave the booth.

Some of these Celtics fans are acting a lot like the old Cavalier fans on this board now that Lebron has taken his talents to South Beach. (Blinded by fanhood, unable to be rational and logical, etc)

Miami is overrated. LeWhiner,Wade, and Bosch will not work out.
  • wes_mantooth
I doubt it. Wade will end up injured for part of the season and Lebron will tank a couple of times. I still think they will get the #1 seed though....probably around 65 wins.

One angle, and might make things better....But if Lebron is talking about stats and these guys all want to get kind of the same numbers they're used to, that could be a problem. They may be willing to sacrifice some stats, but only 1 can be the leading scorer. And when people have the inevitable debate of "who is more important to the Heat's success", will all 3 just accept the answer? Will they care? I also think after a title or two this is much more likely to become an issue and why I might be surprised if this experiment survives the whole 5 years. I think if Lebron and Bosh get a ring or two they will be looking to go somewhere and be "the guy" to get their GOAT cred.
