Knicks rehire Isiah Thomas
-
gorocks99He joins the team as a consultant: http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/news/story?id=5442858
Thomas, a Hall of Famer with the Detroit Pistons, had a dismal run as team president from December 2003-April 2008, with the Knicks missing the playoffs every year despite often having the league's highest payroll -
thedynasty1998This is just mind boggling to me.

He's still going to coach at FIU while serving in a consultant role with the Knicks. -

Mohican00James Dolan is a fucking idiot
-
friendfromlowryWell their previous consultant said to just tank the next few seasons and maybe get Lebron....sooo at this point hiring Isiah isn't the worst move they've made lately.
-
jordo212000You can't make this stuff up. The Knicks are such a joke. Prokorhrov is coming, they better get their heads screwed on.

That makes total sense. I mean with a 7-25 record last year at FIU, he clearly has things under control there and has time to multi-task.He's still going to coach at FIU while serving in a consultant role with the Knicks. -

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2010/08/07/2010-08-07_isiah_will_consult_nba_eyes_fiu_conflict.htmlsiah Thomas officially returned to the Knicks Friday as a consultant but only after team president Donnie Walsh two weeks ago refused James Dolan's request to name him as general manager, the Daily News has learned.
Dolan, the chairman of Madison Square Garden, Thomas and Walsh reached a compromise after Walsh objected to having Thomas be part of the day-to-day operations of the club, according to an NBA source.
Several top-ranking Garden officials also advised Dolan against bringing back Thomas, who was fired two years ago as head coach and president. But Dolan, according to the source, was adamant about rehiring Thomas. In fact, it appears that the compromise will simply delay Thomas' full-time return to the club, quite possibly as Walsh's successor.
The fact that James Dolan wanted him to come back as team General Manager is one of the most unreal things I have ever heard when you consider what he did during his first time with the franchise. In fact, it is being rumored Thomas will be brought back as Team President when Donnie Walsh retires at some point.
David Stern needs to take the team away from Dolan somehow if that happens, as he clearly is not mentally stable enough to handle it.
Come to think of it, maybe there should just be a rule against anyone with the last name of "Dolan" owning a team given their track record. -
Trueblue23I can't see the NBA allowing this.
There are rules about NBA teams and their staff contacting players before they declare for the draft. Obviously, that would be a conflict of interest for Thomas.
Stern won't allow it. -

killer_ewokThank goodness.

HereticSomeone definitely needs to save the Knicks from themselves if they even remotely thought this was a good idea. Step #1 of not letting this go down happened. Now Step #2 (sniper taking out Dolan) needs to go into effect.
