    Josh is better.

I just fail to realize how an official can blatantly miss those calls. A ball cannot pass over the backboard like that, it is illegal. Kobe and Josh Shipp should not have been credited those baskets...

It used to be illegal and no longer is. I believe a couple of weeks ago there was a short segment on ESPN talking about this and focusing on when Bird did it (basket waved off) and how current Celtic (Either Rondo or Pierce, I forget) did it and it counted.

At least ESPN made it seem like it is now perfectly legal.

I am curious about this. I know it is illegal in high school, and I am almost positive it is in college too, but I have no idea about the NBA. Now kids are going to try and imitate it and I will have to tell them, "hey, you can't do that,' sorry.

I just went through the NBA's Rules PDF and the best I can find on this play is that in pertaining to becoming a dead ball: "(10) Ball passing directly behind backboard" meaning it has to come from in front of the backboard and then go over to be a dead ball. This is a subtle but substantial difference than the NFHS rule book, which states a ball becomes dead "traveling over the backboard," meaning it can come from any direction for this to happen.

I can hardly keep up with the NBA rule changes though, but this caught my attention.

    Awesome play

It is STILL illegal in HS and College. I just took the class to become a referee. The rule is still in place.

I suppose the NBA might have legalized it, they change anything and everything every year. But it is still illegal in college, that I am positive of.

Kobe is joining Magic Johnson's company of making shots out of their rumps.

Kobe should really have to play with 1 hand behind his back to be fair.

Also hit the left handed buzzer beater last night
