Bus Cook, Brett Favre's agent: Favre A 'Drama Queen'

  • IggyPride00
Really? Next thing I know someone is going to tell me the sky is blue.
For the third straight summer, no one knows what Brett Favre will decide. Will he return? Will he retire? He is dragging out the process, yet again. Now, even Favre's own agent, Bus Cook, is tired of the drama. According to Men's Journal, Cook angrily ranted to Favre about him contacting ESPN's Ed Werner to state that he needs ankle surgery to play in 2010.

"Now why did he do that," Cook said to Men's Journal. "...Goddammit, why does he have to be such a goddamned drama queen? Play, don't play, goddamn, people are getting sick of it. I'm getting sick of it!...[bold]You got problems with surgery, talk to your wife. Why talk to goddamned Ed Werder?"[/bold]

I love that. If you've got problems, talk to your wife. Don't talk to Goddamned Ed Werder.

It's just Brett being Brett. He is throwing at the Hattiesburg, Miss high school. Coach Childress is flying in to tell him he is wanted. Only about another month until training camp ends. Soon enough Rachel Nichols will be camped out on Favre's front lawn talking about how Brett was out cutting the grass or clearing some brush. A little later he miraculously decide he is coming back again for a supposed last run, and all is right with the world.

I get sick of this yearly.

It's todays media that turns everything into a circus. If they wouldn't bring it up everyday we wouldn't be asking it everyday.

By the way, Favre is the man. Once he does decide to play, he plays and doesn't miss a game unlike others.

I understand the waffling, the never wanting to let go but feeling like maybe its time. I've seen my dad retire twice and go back to work and he's no drama queen. I don't know if Favre is asking for everyone to follow his day-to-day life or if the media just does it because there ain't much else going on. Personally, I lost interest a long time ago so I either switch the channel or find something else to do when all the Favre talk starts.
  • wes_mantooth
I hope he comes back again...it makes me smile watching him choke away a season with a crazy pass.

He will continue this yearly circus until he finally embarrasses himself on the field as well as off it.
Then we will start the countdown to Canton.

I agree whole heartedly, the NFL is a better place when he is in it. Favre games last year routinely drew the highest ratings in the league.

I think all of the "will he, won't he" would dissipate if his team would just say show up on August 20th or so ready to play. He has to use retirement as an excuse to avoid training camp. He clearly doesn't need it, and if anyone on the team bitches (which they won't) you tell them they can do the same thing when they are 20 year vets coming off a 33td, 4,000 yard passing season with a QB rating over 108.

You don't think guys like Sydney Rice, Shank or Percy aren't pleading with Favre to comeback after the production they had last year. In one year with Favre Rice went from being considered a bust to a top 5 receiver in the NFL.

They even got a new toy for Favre to play with in Toby Gerhart.

Favre maybe a bit of a drama queen, but it is only because of the training camp issue as I really believe that if they would just openly excuse him from it we wouldn't have to go through this farce every off season.
  • gut
Favre doesn't want to do training camp, at this point, any more. That's all there is to it, nothing more, nothing less. He'll decide the first or second week of August he's coming back. Book it.

    Until he,

    Rapes someone
Shoots himself in the leg, while illegally carrying a gun into a bar
has a team owner ordered posse, (babysitters) to follow him around
    Rapes someone a second time
Has an hour special on ESPN called 'The Decision II, Will I Return?'
    Gets busted for steriod usage
Takes a gun into an Airport
Gets questioned by the police for a shooting while at a party
    Gets caught with weed
    Gets caught with weapons
    gets caught with another woman
Goes on a "Viking" like cruise.

    Brett is the man.

    And don't you forget it.

So, abusing prescription painkillers is okay because it is a victimless crime or because he admitted to it?
  • skank
Getting addicted to something that a doctor prescribed you is much different than getting addicted to cocaine, weed or even alcohol.

Brett stepped up to the plate, admitted to it, and handled it like a man.

You do realize you just compared an addiction to painkillers to rape, weapons, and infidelity don't you?

    Hell yeah!

Brett Favre is a great player, but hes completely full of himself and think he honestly does this just to be in the spotlight. His act is old, play or retire. Thanks.

And eh, to be addicted to pain medication, wouldnt he have to lie to the Dr as a reason to get more? They generally dont give you more then they think you need.

Weren't you the one defending LBJ for HIS hour long 'Decision' on ESPN?

    Ah....yeah....hence the word "addiction".

I don't care who you are....If you're comparing Brett's addiction to any of the actions I mentioned in my above post, you're a dumbass.

It's not his fault the media people keep bugging him about it..he doesn't want to play in minicamps, and hes earned the right to do so...so just leave Favre alone and you won't hear from him, and nobody will be calling him an attention whore.

I didnt compare his actions to the ones above, but lying to dr's to get drugs is not admirable...no matter if you man up and admit it or not

"He doesn't remember the 20 minutes in between, during which his limbs thrashed, his head banged backward uncontrollably, and he gnashed his teeth. During those minutes his body told him in a loud wake-up call to stop popping painkillers as if they were Lifesavers. He never heard Tynes scream to the nurse, "Get his tongue! Don't let him swallow his tongue!" He never heard a terrified Brittany ask, as she was being whisked from the room, "Is he going to die, Mom?"

"However, according to Tynes and Favre's agent, Bus Cook, in addition to the prescribed doses he received from the team, Favre also scored Vicodin from teammates who didn't finish their prescriptions and from doctors outside the organization, including one who had treated him for a past ailment."

"A source close to Favre told SI that Favre initially balked at entering a rehab facility. The source said Favre also did not want to comply with a demand from his NFL-appointed addiction counselors to sign a 10-part treatment plan that called for him, among other things, to stop drinking for two years. Favre claims he doesn't have an alcohol problem. However, the league's substance-abuse policy mandates that a player who turns himself in for treatment comply with his counselors' recommendations. Had he refused to sign the treatment plan and enter a rehab center, Favre could have been considered in noncompliance with the policy. That could have triggered the penalty clause, under which he could have been subject to a four-game suspension in 1996 without pay (which would cost him $900,000). So he signed the document..."

So, um, he lied to doctors, illegally obtained drugs, nearly died in front of his child as a result, and scoffed at rehab until the threat of suspension set in. That isn't any worse than having someone walk around with you, having a special about you on TV, illegally obtaining drugs (oh wait, he did that), being questioned for something you didn't do, and/or getting caught with another woman?

Favre could kill my sister and he'd still be he man.

You do realize the guy you're referring to for rape was never even arrested (a hurdle that is practically lower than a moving violation, by the way) and the two accusers have 0 credibility, combined?
  • Hb31187
Lying to doctors to score drugs is less offensive than....cheating on a wife, posession of weed, being accused of rape but never even arrested, or having extra security?

If this were someone other then the "loveable brett favre" i assume youd be ripping them a new one

Lying to Dr's to get drugs IS NOT worse than cheating on your wife.

And let me ask you this, answer honestly, would you rather have your family, friends and neighbors know that you have lied to a Dr to get drugs....OR....have been accused of rape? And, in certain assholes situations....TWICE?

And I like how you worded that, "having extra security", Dude....we all know why those "security people" were there.

First of all, I do think perscription drug addiction is bad, but it is not worse than anything on my list.

YOU realize that professional athletes seem to get away with alot more than the regular guy right?

Secondly, you said "the two accusers"....Nuff said.

Do you think Brett wanted to get addicted? Do you think he wanted his child to see him almost die?
Let's see here, wether Kobe did or didn't, (he did), he still willingly was with another woman. As far as Big Ben, fool me once shame on you....fool me twice....you're a stupid mother fucker.

And the "someone walking around with you", let's get real here, Pacman was a bad dude, (and I don't mean that in a good way), he is a thug, a criminal, a detriment to society, if I was the owner, he would have had someone walking his criminal ass to the door, with all of his stuff in a fucking staples box.
