    Bronson Arroyo 9-4 4.04

    Jason Hammel 7-3 4.08

Reds need to get back at it. They need Rolen to be Rolen.

Hopefully this thread stays near the top because the LeBron topics are off the chart irritating

and me typing that will probably keep it near the top and enusre the stupidty level stays high

Are we gonna have to face Jimenez this weekend?
  • dave
    nope
  • Ironman92
I would have to believe he would pitch Saturday or Sunday after 2 innings Tuesday
  • Ironman92
    really? why not?

I'm pumped that the break is over with. If I was a player I'd be ticked about the scheduler giving me a dayoff the day after the All-star break ends. Why would I need a day off on that day? I would have preferred it been used when I had a string of 10+ games in a row.

    Jimenez won't pitch until Monday???

Heading to the park in 30mins, perfect weather here tonight. For some reason I think the offense will come out firing, a pregame visit with MC Hammer should get them pumped up, lol.

Hammer hit a nice HR in the celebrity all-star game......nothing like Bo Jackson's...but still...old fat Bo hit a HR about 350 ft, just short of the warning track in LFC....God I hate the Bengals....the Steelers injured a good QB....the Bengals ended the career of an absolute highlight reel star

Did Dusty ask the umps to review the Olivo HR play for fan interference knowing full well the HR call was correct, just so his relievers would have more time to warm up to cover his own unpreparedness to get Arroyo out of the game before the lead was completely gone?

Great job by Rhodes to get out of the 8th with the Reds still ahead 3-2. Even though he didn't get along too well with his first batter as he walked Spillborghs(a pinch hitter for a pinch hitter) after he laid off a tough 2-2 pitch that was a couple inches outside to load the bases with none out, after Arroyo left him with two on and no out. Hopefully that will prove to be the "real save" of the game for which Rhodes will not get credit for, even if Coco doesn't blow it.

What a great throw from Gonzales to nail Rolen at 3rd trying to advance from 2nd on Bruce's one out deep fly to right. Rolen broke a cardinal rule of making the 3rd out being tagged out coming to 3rd.

Cordero over throws a 3-2 breaking ball to Olivo to put the lead run at the plate with 2 out.
  • mhs95_06
And Cordero saves it to keep the Reds in first! And he gets the out throwing 3 straight on the inside part of the plate!

Rolen was safe at 3rd...initial tag missed his lead foot and didn't touch him until he was safely on...or not

outstanding throw though...he and Jason Heward can really wing it for the new guys

    Kinda a huge win

Yea, I thought that too, but its the old call that if the throw beats him he's called out regardless if he got tagged. Even though it is a cardinal rule, I still thought it was a pretty good risk with a one run lead and putting the pressure on the defense. The throw was coming right on line with the line rolen was taking to the bag which I thought may have entered into to his reasoning for trying it. The throw took a perfect hop right over him as he was getting down. I'll bet if Rolen had it to do over again he would have slowed a bit and gone in standing up.

Did anybody notice on the strikeout pitch by Rhodes for the final out of the 8th that Hanigan gave a late high and inside target, but Rhodes threw it on the outside to get the K. I'm wondering if he missed the target that bad and got lucky, or was it a correlated effort by Rhodes and Hanigan to snooker the batter to give the target high and inside when they both knew the pitch was to be outside?

    ^^^^

I would be inclined to think he missed his spot, but depending on thehitter and tendencies sometimes you'll deke a guy like just to keep him honest...

The Reds got very fortunate advancing a base on plays when both Phillips and Rolen got picked off and immediately went for the next base and were able to get in safe. Of course Rolen puched his luck on the next play and was called out at 3rd.

The first inning was a continuation of the 23 inning futility in scoring streak when Phillips and Cabrera started off by reaching base and then Votto, Rolen, and Gomes all failed after that. That hurt along with the two out play by Fowler to leap at the CF wall to take a 3-run HR from Bruce that would have gone over by 18" and made it 6-0. The game was very close to being a rout for the Reds, but ended up coming down to being a very close one run win. It could have easily went the other way for a 5th straight heartbreaking loss.

Just got back from the ballpark. Great win. The ballpark was packed and was getting loud in the 8th and 9th.

Ok a few things on Chris Sabo.
    1. Where did he get that yellow and white polo? Did he bring that from 1990?
    2. What was that spot on the front of his pants? haha looked eerily like he might have zipped up too soon.
    3. He is really awkward

Did you stay for Hammertime or did you catch the pregame show?
