Another black eye to the James' Gang?

I just cant get passed the whole putting something like this on Ebay a couple days after stealing it. This woman would truly have to be ratarded to do something like that. You could very well be right though.

I don't know in this case, but nothing would surprise me. Watch any of the various world's dumbest criminals type shows (or read about it). Desperate people don't always think everything through.

The sooner James and his posse get out of Ohio the better. Thought the guy was a tool going back to his high school days.

When I started reading the story the only thing missing was OJ Simpson and some guns.

Not sure who to believe on this story. Then again I really don't care either.

So she was supposed to go back to the yard sale and tell the person they mustve made a mistake....apparently you have never really been around really yard sale people. There are people who go around looking for valuable things at garage, yard and rummage sales. Once in a lifetime they find something of great value that the schmuck having it in a yard sale doesn't know.... That is perfectly sane and logical. I wouldn't give it back and unless it was reported stolen...then the pendant belongs to the woman....
  • SportsAndLady
Oh yeah i'm sure you guys would take the thing back to the yardsale people and be like "oh you guys musta made a mistake, i bought this off you for 5 dollars and it's worth 2,000 times that...here have it back, i can't take this" hahahah

Uh yeah... I would. If I bought jewelry that is worth close to $10,000 I can assure you that I would not be keeping it. Possession of stolen property is generally frowned upon.

I think you are missing the point. There was no yard sale. She came into stolen property and what better place to say you got it than a yard sale? If you people want to actually believe that someone stole this necklace (undisputed) and then happened to accidentally sell it in a garage sale for $5, where this person randomly purchased it; then you are just naive.

So the dude is allowed to falsely imprison people in his home then?

    lol right?

I see no reason not to believe the woman bought this at a yard sale. Until it's proven she didn't why would we doubt her? If so, she legitimately purchased an item and it's now hers. If it was stolen somewhere along the line then I am sure the law will be followed and it will be worked out.

That said...it's amazing to me that some of you want to trash this woman when she was essentially held captive in someone's home. Do you think that was wrong or do you just want to defend one side here?

Either way...I am going to wait for more details before jumping to conclusions.
  • Fab4Runner
And I'm sorry but there are court systems for a reason. If it was really stolen then they should have gone through the courts when it happened or even now when they discovered someone had it. You don't just call someone and have them come to your house and try to intimidate them into getting it back. Especially when Carter has enough money to do so. It is absolutely crazy that anyone would defend this behavior.

    This.

Unless this woman is the absolute dumbest criminal in the world I've gotta believe her story until it is proven false. Why the hell would someone steal something and then agree to go on the friggin' news telling the story of what happened to call attention to herself? Doesn't make sense to me.

And she definitely needs to press charges for false imprisonment. That's absurd.

if it was reported stolen, the women could not have had it appraised is my understanding.

therefore, i think Maverick is fucked, and rightly so.
  • thedynasty1998
I'm sure she didn't want to be on the News, but she had a Lebron pendant on eBay and someone probably saw it and made it into a story.

I'm honestly shocked that anyone would believe she just happened to find a $10,000 piece of jewelry at a garage sale for $5. Plus, anyone that goes to a garage sale knows that if it was indeed fake, like she believed, $5 at a garage sale is way too much.

The chic is an amateur boxer in Akron. I hate to judge her, but if she's a female boxer, she's probably pretty rough on the edges, and theft isn't something that I would put past her.

And someone please explain to me how someone is going to steal this from Carter and just randomly lose it and someone ends up putting it in a garage sale? Common sense has to take over eventually.

And if someone stole $10,000 from me, false imprisonment is the last thing they would have to worry about.

What? How does that make sense? So every appraiser in Akron is given a report of stolen property and is ordered not to appraise it?
  • j_crazy
i was of the understanding that custom jewelry was always checked. i don't know where i read it, but when this story broke, it was part of the original article i read. something to do with tracking of the gems used to make it. i'll try to find it.
  • j_crazy
But Robinson maintains she could not have had the jewelry certified by the I.G.S. if it were stolen property.
So it's her that says it, but I think it's beleivable.

Ok, you do realize she bought this at a yard sale FOUR years ago, right? FOUR YEARS AGO.

The Pendant was never reported stolen, NEVER.

She recently had it appraised, which from everything I've read, it impossible to do on stolen jewelry.

She found out it's worth and went to sell it on Ebay. I don't think she draws all this attention if it was stolen. She has been trying to open up her own gym, she finds out she's sitting on 10 grand and wants to sell it for profit obviously.

And WHY, WHY, WHY, would she go to MAverick Carters house if she stole it? You would NOT go there if you were indeed the thief. I mean seriously, you guys can't be stupid enough to believe that?

Then she's held captive in another home?

See post above about getting it appraised.

She went to the house to get some money.

It's beyond my comprehension that anyone could believer her story.

It is beyond my comprehension that anyone would defend holding someone captive to get back a necklace. There are court systems for a reason If something is stolen report it stolen. If you find who stole it turn them in.

BTW, who was held captive? By the time the cops showed up, the lady was gone. She didn't call the cops and didn't press charges....
