Is it safe to say that the MLB Home Run Derby has lost its luster?

I tuned in to watch Swisher in the 1st round, but since then i haven't really been paying attention. i like to see guys hit the ball a long way, but I have trouble sitting still to watch glorified batting practice for 2 hours, especially when at the pro level the last round they play HR Derby in BP everyday

I think it should be like Ubaldo Jimenez out there just throwing 10 pitches as hard as he can and see who can hit the ball furthest. Make it AL vs. NL, pair 1 all star pitcher up with 1 big hitter and combine everyones scores at the end to see what team wins.

Well that was a letdown, Ramirez is too good of a hitter, can't pull everything.

I can't believe Papi beat that impressive field of sluggers....

    oh wait, yes i can.

Why wipe the slate clean going into the final round? Keep the score for all 3 rounds, or wipe them clean after each round. You can't have it both ways, Bud.

It sucks me in every year but I just can't last the whole time. It always cracks me up how they always have the time slot set as 8-10 when it's never even came close to that.

you end up getting too much top spin on the ball, and that kills ball flight

    what?

Hanram was hitting everything the last round to right and right center and it wasn't getting out. Papi hit his shots down the left field line to win. Ramirez needed to pull it, he can easily get it out of the park with topspin, most of his shots the first 2 rounds were line drives. Did you even watch?
