Haslem Stays with Heat

  • jpake1
I know 95% of this site thought it would be 3 kings and a bunch of shit. Wrong again. Haslem and possibly Miller if it's ever finalized-- not that bad of a start to the bench, eh?

Haslem was key IMO. He'll be a great backup to Bosh and can even play the 5 if needed.

can't fault the guy for wanting to win, but it's absurd to leave that kind of money on the table. this is probably the last big contract of his career, and he's taking about 1/3 of market value to win and party with his buddies.

he is getting shit under the table there is no reason for this guy to turn down that kinda guap

its not like he needs a title for his legacy no one will remember him once he is done

Yes he's taken a pay cut. He told Ira he was getting the full MLE from other teams. Not sure what his first year salary is quite yet. The guy had made some damn good money in the NBA, and whatever he makes this year will be very nice too. Yes he left money on the table, but maybe it was worth it to him. He's from Florida, hell he has a huge tat of the whole state on his back, he's home grown. He's been with Miami all his life, and loves them because they took a chance on him when nobody else would. He won a ring with them. He may win a lot more. Miami set up a huge surprise bday part for him. He LOVES Miami. The extra millions he left on the table couldn't buy all of that in his opinion.

its still 3 guys and a bunch of duds. Miller would be a good piece, but I dont think Haslem is that great of a player, though he will be able to get even more garbage points this year.

Man, times are a changin'. Before, we bashed pro athletes because it's all about the money with them. This past week it the tide has turned, we bash them for taking a pay increase to help win. Like the Big 3 said, they would have gotten shit from people for either way they went.

A bunch of duds? GTFO grasshopper. Miller and Haslem are VERY good pieces. Haslem isn't a great player, but he isn't anywhere close to a dud. He's a championship PF, something that many guys can't say in the league. If you think he's a dud, get in touch with Dirk, I'm sure Dirk will tell you that certainly isn't the case. The Heat aren't done yet either. They have guys lining up to sign with them.

youre on an ohio based board! i dont blame haslem at all!!! im glad he is staying home. Glad there is loyalty out there, like Dfish. I just dont think Haslem is a great player. JMO though.
  • Midstate01
i agree miller is good. He will get so many open looks!! ANd of course guys are lining up to play there, who wouldnt!! Lebetards point guard for a night idea was great!, they should try it!
  • jpake1
I know I'm on an Ohio based board... your point being?? He isn't great, but you went further than that, you called him a dud.
  • jpake1
Are you excited or something? Ha.
  • Midstate01
im going to go down and sign up!

my point being was, you are on an ohio based board, we are going to be bitter for a while! So any heat talk is going to get a reaction! im over it now, like i said, im glad he showed loyalty!
  • jpake1
I didn't think you were being bitter, just didn't agree with your thoughts on Haslem being a dud. It's all good.

He's not all NBA, but he averaged 10 points 8 boards a game and is not a scrub.

He gives them credible depth more than anything.

They are getting him for next to nothing, veterans minimum I would assume. Someone like Andy V averages 8 & 7, and makes 8 million a year.

Let's say they add Brad Miller and maybe Z as a back-up center.

With a couple of reserves to play guard they will have filled out a pretty damn solid roster all things considered.

He signed a 5yr/20M deal. He left about 10M on the table. Miller's agent officially said he intends with sign with Miami for 5 years as well.

    Not against Howard,Gasol or Bynum.

Howard and Bynum are centers. Gasol is a PF, the same position as Bosh. Bynum is the most overrated player in the NBA, so really the only team with a dominant center Miami will have to worry about is Orlando, and all they have to do is find enough guys to foul him, and they found them in the 2nd round in Pittman and the dude from Miss State.

Miami isn't worried about Howard. They play him very well. Miami just helped themselves a lot against the Lakers with Haslem coming back. They need a bit more help down low though.
