Chris Broussard to Dan Gilbert

I agree that there is a group of people that are only mad about the way he went about it, but a majority are mad that he left Cleveland.
Not even close..........majority of Cavs fans are upset with the way he left, its not even close. You are WAY off on this one -
krazie45Sure Cavs fans are put off that he left. No question about it. But the way he left amplified it x1000. Gilbert's letter was necessary for ensuring Cavs fans that they should still support the team and expect a competitive team. Was it over the top? Sure....but Gilbert doesn't care and neither do Cleveland fans which is who the letter was between. Anyone else's opinions on it are fairly irrelevant.

I'll be graduating in 4 years homie..coulda been 3 and 2/3 years, but I figured I'd stay that extra quarter and take bowling, canoeing, and history of baseball. -

I like how you put that! -

I think people lose sight of that. The letter clearly is addressed to Cavs fans....not to sports writers, Jesse Jackson, or anyone else. -
jpake1Gilbert showed me exactly who I thought he was to begin with.

Yes, I and others have been backed into our defensive corners and lashing out here and there, but your comments make me pause and say...yeah, that's right!krazie45;421695 wrote:I think people lose sight of that. Probably what he spends on a good night in Vegas....pretty much chump change as difficult as that is to try to wrap one's head around -

Probably. Like $10 to you and I. -

Does that really matter? He's still familiar with the area, and much more so than many of the others speaking up.
I mean, we can get some homeless guys who grew up there if that will give it more credibility

Stern basically called LeBron a jackass in his statement too regarding his little "Decision" thing... but since Stern talks out of both sides of his mouth, and defends his superstars and referees to the hilt, it doesn't matter. -
just_a_swimmerBottom line it is just time to move on. I keep trying to put it into perspective. No one died. It's just sports.
Anybody else ready for high school and college football. -
HitsRusStern is a dick. He doesn't want the league to look bad. Bad for revenues and advertising, you know. If he was a real man, he'd be calling an investigation into player collusion and tampering, which is, in a way, what Gilbert might have really wanted to say.....but didn't so as not to give the sport a black eye.
Building a great foundation...HA!....The only question is whether Miami was involved or just the lucky recipient. He was looking for reasons to leave, not stay. Failing two seasons in a row, bringing in players that didn't work, not getting a great player to come to Cleveland, and the Miami Heat building a great foundation was enough reason to leave.
The only thing Gilbert owes an apology for is guaranteeing a championship before Lebron gets his....to which he should apologize to Cavs fans, "I'm sorry, but I really can't guarantee a championship...but I'm sure going to try".
Chris Broussard...is there a more worthless piece of commentary? He is willing to give James a pass for being only 25 years old, but he holds Gilbert's feet to the fire because he's almost 50. It doesn't matter that James' dog and pony show was premeditated and orchaestrated to a national audience, and that Gilbert's comments were an off the cuff e-mail directed to Cavs fans. It doesn't matter that James has plenty of advisors at his beckon call....he's only 25!
And of course Broussard in all his wisdom thinks Gilbert is at fault for threats of violence against LeBron and company.....NOT! Hopefully LBJ will learn (now that he's over 25) that "DECISIONS" have consequences. Some of those consequences may include pissed off fans, and maybe even a team owner who is trying to remove a stilletto from his back.
Broussard calls Gilbert an 'enabler' for helping James friends...and then he says Gilbert trashes him because he is no longer a 'moneymaker' for him....as if LBJ was working for peanuts, and Gilbert was reaping all the benefits. Perhaps "that's why Lebron didn't want to play for him".
The only real question I have after reading that tripe, was "Why does this guy have a job?" -
OhioStatePride2003It doesn't matter. It's done and over with. We're not going to wake up tomorrow and find out that LeBron is back in Cleveland. For me, it really wasn't about him leaving. No matter how he did it, it was going to sting a little when he said he was leaving. But the way he did it, was a disgrace. I know there are a lot of LeBron fans, not Cavs fans, but LeBron fans, and even as a LeBron fan, you have to be just a tad bit embarrassed and disgusted by the way he handled this. Gilbert did everything he had to try and salvage some sort of hope for us Cavs fans. I've said it over and over, as a player - LeBron deserves his chance at a title. It'd be a shame to see him play 20 seasons and not win one with his talent. But as a person, LeBron should feel ashamed. It was moraly wrong. The thing that bothers me the most, were his comments at his welcome party to Miami. He's so passionate about winning multiple titles in Miami with Wade and Bosh, which, yeah I probably would be too. But where was that passion in Cleveland? Where was that passion in Game 5 against Boston? Where has that passion been for his 7 years in Cleveland? That's what bothers me the most. LeBron, to me, has always been humble in his responses about how great he is, and then he gets to Miami and he's cocky and arrogant (in my opinion). As a Cleveland fan, it's another heartbreak, and it's hard to wrap your mind around.

agree 100%...the poster who you're refuting is a self-proclaimed "hater",so take his posts for what they're worth.... -

Ha, yes they did build a great foundation. The 2nd or 3rd richest owner that isn't in the mold of a Jerry Jones or Cuban. One of the greatest NBA minds in Pat Riley. The ability to sign back one of the top 3 players in the league. And a crap load of money to bring in talent that fits with their game plan. -
HitsRusAll he did was dump players and clear cap space....and manipulate the situation if he was involved with the colluding players...or fall into it if he wasn't. The NBA may not want to deal with it now, but they will have to deal with it sooner or later.
