The EqualizerThe one good thing about rooting for cleveland in anything: Chances are you'll be able to get the guy at the top of your draft board every fucking year.

Wow! Let me guess, you were "always" a fan of these teams. Your 2nd cousin's girlfriend lived in LA, your blood is 10% guido which correlates to New Jersey but is also close to NY so that makes you a Yankee fan, and you live close to the border of PA so you are a steelers fan.
How the fuck is that even fun rooting for those teams? -
The EqualizerHow the fuck is it fun rooting for perennial losers? Hoping this is the year? Pissing and moaning on a soapbox? Playing the sports martyr because for all the suffering you have to go through with no payday at the end? I enjoy watching good players with good ownership structures WHO WANT TO WIN and actually try to do that.
As for background, yes I live 45 mins from pittsburgh and they are my local team and got into football watching with my dad and they were his team. Grandfather followed the yankees and so when I'd watch baseball with him I'd watch them. Lakers have usually been a fun team to watch play.
But I also have watched long enough to remember Bubby Brister, Steve Sax and Nick Van Exel so spare me the bandwagoning shit and go back on your cross to cry about how nothing ever goes right for your teams.
edit: I do want to say I'm sorry to any fan of any in-state teams I cracked on who are decent folks and aren't trying to tell folks who to root for or attack them based on that. Its a shame that I have to routinely root against your teams at all costs, not in the hopes of your lives being miserable, but because of the insufferable assholes who also root for those teams who are even worse good winners than they are crybaby losers. -

Lol what a cop out. As if the fucking lakers have always been "fun to watch." I lived in LA as a baby and in VA. My brother lives in LA. Maybe i should be a lakers fan, redskins fan, and ravens fan (since va is close to maryland). lol at your grandpa following the yankees. I guess being a bandwagoner runs in the family. I am glad you let your grandpa choose your teams.
Steunbenville is a powerhouse in OH HS football, what are you going to do if they go through a few losing seasons? Start rooting for CA or PA HS football teams.
The first paragraph of your post pretty much solidifies you are a bandwagoner, and never will be loyal to any team. Being a sports fan isnt about rooting for the best team, its about being loyal going through the good and bad times. NICE FAIL. Also congrats on doing a wikipedia search to list obscure laker athletes. -

You root for North Caroline in NCAA basketball and USC/Florida/Alabama in football? What a joke that is. Let me guess, you're a Brazil WC fan because they're fun to watch? Were the Lakers fun to watch when they were missing the playoffs and Kobe was crying about wanting to leave? You root for England in the war for Independence? Bandwagoning showcases what kind of a person you are. Way to stay loyal to your roots/home. -
The EqualizerI will never understand why people care about who other people root for and why they root for them. How dare you not root for teams from your state! How dare you root for teams from other places and not suffer with the rest of us! Fuck this state. This isn't 1861 and nobody is signing up for the 10th Ohio regiment.
As for Big Red being a state power, yea they're very good. Do I root for them? No. My cell wallpaper for 6 months was the scoreboard from the Mooney game where they got crushed.
I also enjoy the reading comprehension of the homer patrol who both seemed to miss me saying the Lakers are usually fun to watch. They were fun a few years ago even with the Kobe drama because he's the best player in the league and has been for some time. If they hadn't traded Divac to Charlotte for his draft rights I'd still have watched them, with less enjoyment in their most likely lack of success admittedly. As for having to wiki Mikan, no asshole, I know who he is and I know what he meant to the franchise. Kind of like knowing what Matt Stover did for Cleveland before winning a title in Baltimore.
Now to the other half of the braintrust, though it's probably the same guy under a different name, the only time I root for SEC schools actively in college football is when they play OSU. My team's ND which also kind of busts that bandwagon bubble because if any fans could have had reason to jump ship in the last 15 years its us. I don't really follow college basketball as I attested to in the draft thread where I didn't recognize about 85% of the names. Is UNC a fun team to watch, usually because they tend to attract the better players along with about a dozen other top flight programs but I'm not searching through my direct tv listings to find their game every night.
Oh wait...I guess I'm in trouble for not sticking with a home grown cable company and going with a satellite package beamed to me from outer space. I can hear it now. Good going bandwagoner..picking the moon over your beloved state. -

Rule of thumb: If a fan has to go to many measures to defend his/her fanhood, then it is more than likely he/she is a bandwagoner. Congrats. I am sure we will see your Miami Heat celebration thread next summer. You should lose your man card. -
