  It looks as though a Reds deal for Lee, which was dismissed about a week ago, is looking like more of a possibility, according to John Fay: http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/2010/07/05/reds-have-interest-in-lee/
  
  This all but confirms Jayson Stark's comment a few days ago saying that the Reds were more interested than they were leading on.
  
  The frontrunner at the moment seems to be the Twins, who were rumored earlier tonight to have all but sealed the deal for Lee. Some other teams who have active interest: Rangers, Yankees, and Mets
  
  Other reports are saying that the Yankees interest is more so for the upcoming offseason when Lee will again be a free agent.
  
  Walt Jocketty seems to be as sly as a fox though, as the Reds flew under the radar to sign Aroldis Chapman. I think he will make a strong push for Lee, sending Yonder Alonso among some others to the M's for Lee.
  
  What do you think? Do the Reds shock everyone AGAIN and land Lee or is it just wishful thinking?

  He'll be a Yankee unfortunately. He pitches lights out there and loves doing so in Yankee stadium. Sucks but I'd put all my v-cash on it.

  As a Cleveland fan...I'm rooting for the Reds. Screw the Yankees and any other east or west coast team.

  There is a lot to be said to having a guy that almost always guarantees you at least 7 quality innings. Whoever gets him, will have a big wildcard for the playoffs.

  I don't think anybody dismissed the trade, it was just that when it was brought up the last time all signs pointed elsewhere. The Reds weren't even mentioned as legit candidate. It would be nice to get Cliff Lee though. Especially if it costs what the Indians took back last year

  Conspiracy theory: the Reds moved up Travis Wood's start to today to give the Mariners one more look at Wood, whom they will package with Alonso and send to Seattle. Other teams had offers the Mariners liked (Minnesota) and Cincinnati wanted to counter and give the M's a 2nd look at Travis Wood.
  
  I have absolutely no basis for that, just a gut feeling. This deal will get done before the weekend, Lee could be pitching for the Reds Friday night AT Philly! Whoa!

  He's never playing in Cincinnati, and I could care less who Lee pitches for next year if it means we make a run at winning a World Series.

  I'd love to see the Reds Pick up Lee as long as they don't have to give up too much and hurt the great chemistry the Reds are developing. Being a Tiger fan and a realist however, I would be willing to bet that the Minnesota Twins, who the Tigers can't beat anyway, will land him and he will beat the Tigers 2 or 3 times with at least one of those wins in Detroit when it really counts. Since I am also a Reds fan, the possibility of Cimcinnati picking Lee up has gotten my attention of late.

  With as deep as we are in the minors, and as young as we are in the majors.....I'm willing to roll the dice.

  Alonso and Heisey would be my limit. It's easy to forgot how damn good Lee is now that he's in Seattle. He was untouchable in the postseason last year. He's the only guy out there in my opinion that could single handedly win a world series for a contender.

  Well, Alonso is a first baseman, like that one guy the Reds have that is pretty good. To my knowledge Alonso isn't being groomed to play any other position, so the chances of him ever playing in Cincy are pretty slim anyhow. If you get a chance to get Cliff Lee w/ Alonso being a major piece of the deal, you do it.

  Cliff Lee, even for a year, for Yonder Alonso's .220 BA would be the steal of a century.

  Alonso is nothing but a trading chip. He'll never make it to the majors as a Red with Joey Votto blocking him. If you can use him to get Cliff Lee, you do it.

  I'd be fine with Alonso going, but I would want to see what else is going to. I wouldn't want to get too crazy, but if the price was right I'd do it.

  I think the reds would have to give up too much MLB ready talent to get ahold of him...

  If I had the money, I'd pay Lee not to play for the Twins. That way perhaps the Tigers would have at least a small chance of advancing in the AL Post Season. I think you can write it down. Minnesota gets Lee and perhaps along with it, a spot in the World Series. One pitcher like that can neutralize the Yankees in a hurry.

  I thought about that to, but with Bailey being injured, I'm not sure they'd bite.
