Rotoworld: Shaq"strongly" considering two year deal from Hawks

  • gibby08
Shaquille O'Neal is seriously considering a two-year deal with the Hawks, according to Fanhouse.com.
The deal would start at the mid-level exception of $5.8 million, and would fulfill Shaq's desire to play two more years on a championship contender. His presence would be huge for the Hawks, who have struggled against Dwight Howard in the playoffs, and could set off a chain reaction -- Al Horford could move to PF and Josh Smith could be on the trading block. This is legit. It is being reported on other sites as well.

The combination of Joe Johnson and Shaq....dynamic duo for sure.

The Atlanta brass must hate their fanbase.

    LOL!!!!

Have fun in ATL Shaq. You'll get bounced in the 2nd round.

Nice move for the big guy.

Shaq's ego > City of Atlanta
  • jordo212000
Hopefully he doesn't have a change of heart, just for the sake of Cavs fans. His big butt clogged the lane all season. He wasn't a good fit with the team considering Lebron likes to slash. That's hard to do when you have a big 300+ lbs center who can't get out of the way on your team. To make matters worse he still demands touches and thinks that it is still 2002
  • Hb31187
It would work pretty well for ATL if he can keep up what he did last year. They have Crawford and Johnson ect who can spot up and shoot, no real slashers on the team aside from Josh Smith at times

I thought Shaq was all about rings?

If you just want to win Shaq, take the paycut you deserve and sign with a contender.
  • newarkcatholicfan
It did not take the big man long to learn there is not rings in the future of losersville.
  • Trueblue23
Shaq could have signed with Dallas or Boston, they were both very interested in him.

    It's sad really.

I laughed at contender. You just signed Joe Johnson to a max deal, he's slightly better than Larry Hughes and you have him for 6 years. Good bye ATL.

I continue to laugh at you. Between this and your boo-hooing about the politics forum you have shown just how stupid you are. In fact I hope you are messing with us because an intelligent sports fan cannot have the opinions you have. If you are messing with us and have continued this charade to tick people off over the course of the past few years, then your virginity is something that is not going away any time soon

Do you really believe Joe Johnson deserves a max deal?

Also from the article and what might be bigger news...
The Hawks have recently been exploring the possibility of trading power forward Josh Smith as part of their summertime makeover, according to sources around the league.
    Against Orlando...

    Smith...63 points, 31 boards 2 blocks, 26-59 shooting.

    Johnson...51 points, 18 boards, 15 assists, 17-57FG and 3-17 on 3's.

Someone want to remind me who just signed the new max contract? If they were smart they would move Marvin Williams before Josh Smith.

You said he is slightly better than Larry Hughes. haha. Johnson is not a max deal guy IMO. He will not be top banana on a championship team. However to suggest that the Hawks had any other move they could make is laughable. They had to, otherwise they would have alienated their fans. Nobody of any relevance is signing in ATL. The only reason Johnson did was b/c of the money. As I said before Atlanta knows they probably can't win with their cast of players, but they can be competitive, make the playoffs, pacify the fans, and make some money.

What exactly do you think they could get for Marvin Williams? Especially in comparison to what they could get for Josh Smith.

Package Bibby with Williams and get a PG out of it or start Teague. I dont think you can send Josh Smith and Mike Bibby together in a deal. They need to get an upgrade over Bibby. Crawford is bet suited for coming off the bench.

    Which is the better line-up...

    PG...Bibby.......Teague
    SG...Johnson.....Johnson
    SF....Williams....Smith
    PF.....Horford.....Horford
    C......O'Neal.......O'Neal

Smith is a below average shooter for a 4. He would be even worse as a 3.

I think Boston would be a good fit for Shaq. I still think they have another run in them and the thing they were missing against the Lakers was size. Shaq gives the Celtics plenty of that.

I thought his goal was to "Win a Ring for the King?"

It was until he realized that he was going to be more of a supporting cast player and not the equally-billed (or close to that) co-star of the show.

The Big man spent one year in Cleveland and found out no way in hell could he help KING NO TITLE and LOSERVILLE get a ring.

There is no good fit for Shaq. He should have done the league a favor and retired 2 years ago.
