2010 MLB All-Star Game

BigAppleBuckeyeI have my own bone to pick ... how is Mike Pelfrey NOT on this team??!!! 10-2, 2.93 ERA, and basically the primary reason that the Mets would be the NL Wild Card if the season ended today. What a crock, unreal!
PS, congrats to David Wright, won the 3B vote in the final days ... hope my 25 votes put him over the top! -

Manuel is a dick

Azubuike24Votto SHOULD win the final vote.

darbypitcher22I'm upset to not see Andy Pettitte on the all start team eventhough there are 6 Yankees on the team he's won 10 games and having a career year... also think Pelfrey got snubbed too
-
KnightXC1Pelfrey was a big snub this year. Some of the choices just boggle my mind this year. Starters for the most part are pretty right on the money but some of the reserves are just off. Not to mention the final vote in the AL is pretty terrible.

jordo212000I heard Manuel picked Howard over Votto. smh
-
HereticEvan Meek was the right choice for Pittsburgh's representative. Dude's just been amazing this year. Didn't watch the pick show, but when I saw on FS Ohio that Rhodes made it, I figured Meek would be snubbed as I didn't think two non-closer relievers would make it.

davePelfrey will be starting next Sunday, which I heard could be a major factor why he wasn't chosen. I believe all pitchers who make it and start Sunday have to be replaced as well.

Ironman92Adrian Gonzalez is the problem...not Ryan Howard. Howard is going to get the nod with 59 RBI and his manager is picking the extras....Adrian Gonzalez is the Padres rep....could've gone with Heath Bell (who is in the final vote) and gave the extra 1B to Votto......not choosing Votto ticks off every Reds fan....but also any true fan of baseball that knows anything....not picking Howard could've been a little conflicting in the clubhouse....and 140 rbi a year Manuel is probably pretty strong towards his guy......taking Bell over Gonzalez...no one cares...and then put Adrian on the final vote roster.

I understand the "conflict in the clubhouse" argument. I know that's why it happened. In a vacuum (Manuel has no repercussions for not picking Howard) I pick Gonzo over Howard. The only category he trails Howard in is RBI, which is really a team statistic anyways and not as much stock should be put into it (batting avg is roughly equal). Gonzo's supporting cast is far worse, it's not his fault nobody is ever on base. The point is moot though. Neither guy should have made it over Votto.
Gonzo: 16 HRs, 51 RBI, .295 avg, .390 OBP, .914 OPS
Howard: 15 HRs, 58 RBI, .296, .353 OBP, .859 -
Ironman92don't disagree....but Votto should not be a part of that
