Welcome Back Captain!! There is no way Pierce was going to wear another uniform in his career!

The deal is apparently 4 years 61 Million about 15.25 a year.... Pierce is taking about 6 million less next year than his previous deal

4 years, $61 mil. I think that's about as good as you could ask for from the Celtics, no way were they going to give him 5 years and Pierce probably wasn't going to take 3 (although there are options after the 3rd year). Good deal for the team.

    Pierce & Rondo's last two contracts = 116 Million ... Joe Johnson's alone = 121 Million ... Danny Ainge = GOAT lol

I read an article the other day(I think on Yahoo) that said how Joe Johnsons contract might have been the worst contract in the history of sports.

With Doc Rivers returning and Paul Pierce with a new 4 year contract, it would seem that the Celtics are going to make one more attempt to win another NBA Title, and after this season's impressive play-off run, I wouldn't discount their chances. the Lakers will be awfully tough once again, but Boston has that special ingredient at tournament time that gives them a little extra push.

I don't know ... Wait until after the first month of the season, I'm sure there will be another collapse

Well, they will be 1 more year older and w/o Perkins. Who knows if Ray-Ray returns?

They have Sheed to trade, before he retires--which could net them a decent return.

Sometimes in the NBA, the more things change, the more they stay the same. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see another Laker-Celtic Final. I just don't buy into that age thing when we are talking about Boston. They have the pride and tradition factor, and say what you will, I think it is a very important part of Celtic success over many years and through different eras.

True w/o Perkins in the starting lineup the whole makeup of this team is different... They have been wanting to trade Sheed's expiring contract since he is planning on retiring and hopefully someone takes it and that way we can get someone better for the MLE or Vet Minimum as well. It actually looked like KG was getting his legs under him since it typically takes about a year for your knee to fully heal from the surgery he had. I mean there were at least 2 possibly three games in the finals where KG dominated Gasol & a few where Gasol did it in return. You're not going to dominate Gasol for a 7 game series. Ray will return he already stated he wants to retire a member of the Boston Celtics and with Doc coming back & Pierce signed, I expect Ray Ray to be signed here very quickly. We need to fill our backcourt up as well. The lakers were said to have some interest in Tony Allen but I doubt he leaves & I wouldn't mind seeing Nate Robinson re-sign as well.

Doc is the key to this whole season though, the team loves him and he loves them back. I'd at least love for them to try and get home court at least up through the Conference Semi's but they've already proven they can win on the road. Bring on the NBA Summer League games I think start next week!
