Blue Jays at Tribe game 4

  • Wooball
Tribe looking for 5 straight and a 4 game sweep of the Jays. Matt Laporta doing his best Mark McGwire impersonation hitting a 3 run bomb to put the Tribe up 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th. 3rd straight game with a round tripper for Laporta.

That trip to Columbus definitely helped LaPorta big time. Also, not having to worry about playing time has surely let him relax at the plate and just mash the ball like we knew he was capable of.

The loveable losers are now up,6-0.
  • dazedconfused
did the tribe decide enough is enough at 21 games under .500?
  • BRF
    Fingers crossed. Go Tribe!
  • ts1227
Acta had Masterson out there to try to get his complete game shutout, but he gave up a run and has the bases loaded with 1 out.

Frank Herrmann is out there to try and end it.

If this was last year, Indians fans would be taking pot shots at Wedge, complaining about his team starting too late. If Manny Achta finishes fairly close to .500, he will be praised for winning far more games than anyone thought possible. Fans are so fickle, aren't they?

Double play ball ends it... 4 game sweep and 5 in a row!

    6-1 Tribe

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about right now.

For one, Manny Acta isn't liked by a lot of posters on here.

For two, a few posters, myself included, are taking a wait and see approach on him.

Eric Wedge had a TON of talent from 2005-2008 and could NEVER get the job done. Is it all his fault? Not really, but ultimately he's the manager and the guy who takes the fall.

Manny Acta has taken over a team with little Major League talent. It's not like the Tribe was going to do anything this year to begin with..

I've stayed off most of the Tribe threads for a while now. But I've read them. Some interesting posts by some. Those that are judging Acta on his record thus far should really look at the team he is managing. They lost 2 of their best players to injuries. They are starting players that have little to no ML experience. The ace of the staff is comong off TJ surgery. They really have played about as well as most on here thought they would.

They are who we thought they were.

Swamp Fox: I gotta agree with what hoops23 and royal_k are saying. One thing I like about Acta is that if his starting pitchers are doing good, he will let them keep going and even take a shot at the CG. I REALLY like that and it has worked out well.

Absolutely. 3 game home stretch coming up vs A's, hopefully we keep it going.

Acta is a lot more aggresive in moving runners over than Wedge ever was. He uses the bunt and has even used the squeeze play. Wedge never did that. I guess we will see how good a manager Acta is in 2012. They should be contenders by 2012.

That is Acta's National League roots showing. I was never a Wedge hater, but not playing "small ball" was one of my only gripes about him.

Columbus is on the road tonight to face the Indianapolis Indians(Pirates)

    The good so far
    Columbus is up 3-1
    Goedert has a rbi
    Wes Hodges has 2
    The bad
Goedert has had 2 more errors so far in this one.
  • BRF
BRF tip of the hat to ts1227 and keep that streak going. And thanks for the update, NCF. I like when you do that, instead of cracking on loyal Tribe fans! ;-)

Clippers up,5-1 now with the game moving to the top of the sixth.
Hodges has drove in three tonight
    Bixler 1
    Goedert 1

I.M.O. the most improved player in the organization Constanza has swiped another base giving him 19 on the season.

    BRF,
I know my rep will not allow you to believe this but I seldom, if ever start these little verbal wars on here. I do make sure my shot is a lot worse than the one I take.

I love seeing the Indians and all of the Indians minor league teams do well no matter what some think.

    Break up the Tribe!!!!!!!

Agree with all of this except for Wedge having a ton of talent. They had enough, but I don't think it was ever one of the top 5 most talented teams in the league.

I still see a brutal July forthcoming (right after the A's is when the shit really hits the fan schedule wise), but it's nice to see a few consecutive wins. I'm actually even considering heading to the game for the 4th.

Word! I know you from a long time ago. That is the NCF I know!

I don't think Eric A Wedge could do as good. I think Eric B Wedge would be doing a lot better.

LOL, I don't care who the Tribe rolled out as their opening day pitcher, Fausto is the Ace of this staff with Masterson the 2nd option. Westbrook is a good # 3, but even Mitch Talbot has arguably had a better year.

Eh, I dunno. We were pretty stacked in '07. Our line up was deep and so was our pitching. I'd definitely say we had a top 5 team talent wise, hell, we finished with what, 96 wins that year?

We really should have went all the way. A typical Cleveland choke job prevented that from happening though.

    Clippers won,6-1.
