Reds vs Phillies....Game 1

    Cueto vs Kyle Kendrick

Jimmy Rollins is back and the Phillies may work Cueto's pitch count high.

Reds take 2 of 3 it would be great. This is a virtual must game to do that.

Everyone go vgamble on this one.

Seems like the Phillies usually have the Reds number. It'd be nice to get 2 out of 3

I think this series will tell us if the Reds still have what it takes....the central is putrid but Dusty is in charge and the past will relive unless you change it....this team seems llike they have most of "it" Phillips at the top portion of the lineup and the addition of Rolen are vital...others must keep stepping up....Rhodes already has had a year of step ups....time for Harang and Cordero and DUSTY to jump on with them.

Bray should get some good work this series, I'm excited to see if he has it. Cueto, Leake and Wood gives the Redlegs a real shot this series.

I thought Chapman was gonna be up? What happened to that? I didn't see much Reds news from this weekend.

Does anyone know of any online sites to watch this game?

Saw today the Cardinals are interested in Cliff Lee. Maybe it might wake Walt up and realize the Reds have FAR MORE assets to get a trade done than St. Louis does.

Wainwright, Carpenter, Lee = Division race over for Cincinnati.

Scary. The worst part is Walt knows exactly how St. Louis runs their organization. They have operated this way for a decade. They build the system enough to trade players away for key pieces. They haven't had a top 20 farm system since the mid-90's. In-fact, they are usually ranked in the bottom 5 every year, yet somehow manage to swing deals when everyone things it's going to cost a lot to acquire someone.

The Reds on the other hand, have a dozen prospects with about 3 or 4 MLB spots available in the next few years. They have the offense to win the division this year. Why he wouldn't make a trade similar to Wood + Valaika + Boxberger or something similar for Lee is astonishing. It doesn't even have to be that, but even a deal like that involving only 1 really key prospect would be more than St. Louis could offer.

0-0 after one with Kendrick using 15 pitches and Cueto 16. Phils contact on Cueto was way better than the Reds contact on Kendrick.

Welp nevermind..gonna go play some ball. Hopefully I come back to a win, it may be the only one in this series!

Cueto starts the 3rd putting himself behind the 8 ball by walking the #8 hitter, and then the P sacrifices.

But he gets both Rollins and Victorino to pop up stranding the runner on 3rd. 15.3 pitches per inning for Johnny so far.

Utley pounds one into LCF, Stubbs makes a great play to cut it off, and a decent tttthrow to 2B that is off line and BP makes a great dive tag to the inside of the bag and Utley is called out. I wonder what happened to their super slo mo. I think if they had that they'd so Utley was correct about him being safe. The Howard pounds it to RCF, but with overspin to stay in the park and be a double.
  • mhs95_06
Reds getting some calls tonight. Now on the 4-6-3 DP that BP makes a stellar play on, but Cabrera makes a very weak throw that looked to be late, but Ibanez is called out for the 3rd out. Three more shots off Cueto, but no runs. 16.3 pitches per inning for Cueto and 11.7 for Kendrick.
  • mhs95_06
2nd time thru the Reds line-up, the 2,3,4 hitters all get extra base hits and two runs for a 2-0 reds lead.
  • SportsAndLady
Damn..Cabrera caught stealing THIRD, then Votto doubles right after him which woulda scored him anyways.
