Russell Branyon traded to Seattle for 2 minor leaguers

  • mucalum49
What's up with Seattle always trading the Indians middle infielders??
  • Azubuike24
A head scratching move by 2 organizations who you really have to wonder what they are doing. Seattle, a team ready to have a fire sale, brings BACK a 35-year old Russell Branyan who they had last year and didn't even offer?
  • Glory Days
    Seriously, what is the point?
  • hoops23
Looks like the Indians are bringing Matt LaPorta back up.

Doesn't make sense for Seattle to do this trade, at all.

Seattle has traded us Asdrubal Cabrera and Shin Soo-Choo for nothing. Lightening can't strike 3 times in the same place can it?

Hey that's my thinking, twice we've traded them washed up 1st basemen and gotten gold in return, why not try for a triplicate?
  • vball10set
good riddance--he was a bust the first time around..and I agree--let LaPorta play all the time for at least the reast of the season, and then make a decision on his future with the club...

What the hell is Seattle thinking?....We all know what the Dolan's are thinking(save money)

Who cares. Seriously, this organization is now in the middle of a decline that is going to last for years to come. Welcome back to that 70's/80's show.

Cleveland should be very happy getting rid of that bum. Thank you again Seattle.

Triple-A center fielder Ezequiel Carrera- A left-handed hitter with speed, the 23-year-old Carrera was batting .268 with a .654 OPS, nine steals six doubles, two triples and 18 RBIs in 64 games for Triple-A Tacoma. In six Minor League seasons, Carrera, a native of Venezuela, has hit .291 with a .750 OPS and 115 steals

High-A shortstop Juan Diaz-a 21-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, was batting .295 with a .779 OPS, seven homers, eight doubles, three triples and 41 RBIs at High Desert. In five Minor League seasons, he's hit .255 with a .668 OPS, 16 homers and 159 RBIs.

I like getting a shortstop being it is a major weak spot in the organization.

I see no point in getting the centerfielder.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph! I agree with Mr. 300.

I'm not even going to address the last line of newarkcatholicfan's post. haha

Curious move to say the least for the Mariners. At least Laporta can play everyday now
  • newarkcatholicfan
Laporta Does not even have the fundamentals of the game down so how does he get called up?
Yes, he does have a good stick in the minors but a horrible glove and is worse at running the bases.
The only reason he is being called back up and most likely being handed a job is he was part of the give away of a CY YOUNG winner and the heads of the organization is once trying to prove they were correct in giving the CY YOUNG winner away.

The fans pay for it but then again the way they are staying out of the park maybe we are not paying.

Noooooooooo!!! Brayan is one of my favorite Indians of all time. Damnit

As much as I loved Branyan for my Mariners last year, I'm mind boggled at why this trade exactly happened. It seems like we have a clueless GM, along with my Timberwolves and David Kahn, whose five year plan isn't going to well...

And you live in Niles, MN or WA? ;-)

    Ohio... :)

With my dad extremely disliking Cleveland/Pittsburgh sports teams when I was younger, I was disbarred from liking them as well, so I decided just to go out on a limb and pick random teams when I was four...

I enjoy making people explain their non-home team allegiances.

Trade Branyon and were still paying his remaining salary for this year!!! Pathetic you got a pay a team to take your guys..
  • newarkcatholicfan
Diaz 17 errors this season the good news is he has 6 less errors than the shortstop he will compete with in Kinston.

Ezequiel Carrera is a singles hitter.I believe of his 57 hits this season 49 have been singles.

haha i saw the tribe play in kansas city this year. some royals fans next to us in the front row were trash talking him. right before he goes back into the dugout after warming up, he stops, looks over at them and basically tells them to fuck off. all the indians fans around us started cheering. then his next at bat, he hits a homerun to top it off haha. that definitely made me root for him after that.

and? So what. haha. What exactly was Branyan? He wasn't a great player anymore and they got two young guys they can groom. Seems like a good deal to me

He hit the farthest ball I ever saw hit at Cooper Stadium when he was playing for Buffalo one nght, out up over the scoreboard and over the trees and still climbinb when it passed the light tower...
