Reds @ Oakland.....Game 1
-
Ironman92Jose Rijo vs Dave Stewart
oops....Mike Leake vs Gio Gonzalez
I think it's real simple for the Reds....yes they may lead the ML in HR.....but the park they play in is a flyer........Seattle and Oakland don't have HR parks and the Reds just need to take this lefty and hit it hard where it's pitched...quit trying to jack everything out of the park......ball caught on the warning track don't count for a lot of runs. -
RotinajOakland wins 12-0....Leake throws 7 scoreless innings.
-
Ironman92So your saying Massett pitches?
-
Ironman92I think the Reds should sign Billy Hatcher for this series......A's fans would cringe.
-
Ironman921990 World Series
Game #1 vs Dave Stewart
BIlly Hatcher was 3/3 with 2 doubles
Game #2
Billy Hatcher was 4/4 with 2 doubles and a triple and an intentional walk
Game #3
Hatcher was 2/5
Game #4
Hatcher was beaned by Dave Stewart and left the game in the bottom of the 2nd.
For the series he was 9/12 with 4 doubles and triple
For the series he had 15 plate appearances and reached base 12 times.
A must know for Reds fans. -
Mooney44CardsIt would be nice to sweep the A's just like the 90 WS. Won't happen though. We'll lose 2 of 3.
-
Laley23I need Leake to get back on track.
-
jordo212000I sense a win on the horizon
-
Ironman92I sense an Adam Rosales sighting.
-
Ironman92though Rosales is 0-12 his last 5 games.....so it could be a doozy!
-
RotinajWith that info I see a 5-5 night for rosey.
-
davemaybe these guys will figure out a way not to pop up 2 out of 3 batters every inning.
-
Ironman92not trying to hit a HR every time would assist in that

I think you are right on target with this comment. The Reds need to adjust their approach to the park and the pitcher they are facing! In these two big west coast parks the recipe is to first get baserunners any way they can, then plan on it taking two singles after the baserunner reaches to score a run, or just one single if they utilize the sacrifice or stolen base. But those well hit warning track fly balls are of no value unless there is a runner on 3rd and less than two out, and you are not down by several runs. Need to think patience and singles. -
darbypitcher22they won't drop any bombs tonight; Oakland, er, McAfee Coloseum is a fucking huge park, and tons of foul territory....gonna need to keep the ball out of the air

vs. LHP Gio Gonzalez (6-5, 4.21) -
Azubuike24Reds sign Gary Matthews Jr. prior to the game tonight. That means that A) a trade may be coming (involving Heisey, Alonso, etc...), B) Laynce Nix's days are numbers or C) Chris Dickerson is out WAY longer than expected.
Then again, Matthews is even worse than Corey Patterson so... -
mhs95_06Very interesting stat Marty had. Oakland leads the AL in home ERA, and is last in the AL in road ERA.
-
wildcats20I like Paul Kiels a lot. But I can't stand when he is doing Reds game.
-
mhs95_06Reds take advantage of some poor A's defense to score the games first run!
-
wildcats20Took all of 3 batters for the Reds to equal the runs from the Seattle series...
-
daveOnly a minor league deal, and it's not a done deal yet. Hopefully it's just for insurance, nobody in AAA is doing very well. Dickerson probably won't be helpful the rest of the year, that injury typically takes almost a year to recover fully from.
-
mhs95_06Who said last game that Votto is the Reds "best" baserunner?
-
davelol Votto.
-
jordo212000Gary Matthews? Really? He hasn't been Gary for several years. (cough HGH cough, big contract cough)
