gorocks99Don't look now, but Federer is down 2 sets to 0 in his opening match to something named Alejandro Falla from Colombia.

trackandccrunnerWow... this would be crazy if Fed lost in the first round.
-
Laley23Shocking. Regardless if he wins, its shocking he is in this situation.
-
Laley23I thought Fed was done there. tied 4-4 in the 3rd set and down 0-40. Comes back and wins and then breaks for a 1-2 set score.
-
ts1227Falla up 4-3 in the 4th
-
trackandccrunnerIts not looking good for Davydenko either. Hes down 2 sets and is down 6-5 in the 3rd set right now.
-
ts1227Falla a game away... 5-4 in the 4th
-
gorocks99If it happens ... biggest upset in tennis history?

Definitely the biggest upset in recent memory -

Depends. Cause I remember when Federer took out Sampras and people said THAT was a huge upset. Well, as it were, it wasnt. -
ts12276-6, tiebreak coming
Falla doesn't stand a chance in a 5th set, he needs to get it here. -
davethis guy is impressive, got a little tight but not much. reminds me of Andre.
-
gorocks99Tied 6-6 in the 4th set. Falla knows he needs to get it here.
-
gorocks99Federer has turned it on, and wins the 4th set 7-6 (7-1)

gerb131I would say the biggest upset ever. I mean its Fed on grass its like Rafa on clay untouchable until today.
Fed hasn't looked the same for a while now, don't know if he is tired, doesn't have the fire or is mad Mirka put on another 15lbs but whatever it is he doesn't like Roger of 12 months ago. -

He is pissed the referee issued a Red Card in the Swiss World Cup match -

I like that option as well.
Fed is up 4-0 in the 5th. -
like_thatI was just going to say, his mind is probably on the Swiss/Chille game. Fowler (i think he covered the WC yesterday) jinxed him yesterday too by saying "Federer can make quick work of Falla to watch the rest of the Swiss game."

Leonardo(1) Roger Federer def. Alejandro Falla, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (1), 6-0

Hulk SmashThat's the way to start a major.............................with good match that is actually televised instead of the usual wipe outs where the loser often doesn't even make a visible attempt to beat the higher ranked guy. The networks often show us a big name crushing a nobody while ignoring a battle happening on another court.
Today we got a good match...................it wasn't supposed to be that way but I'll take competitive matches over blowouts any way I can get them.
I noticed Roger chasing 5 or 6 balls that he had no chance at getting his racket on today. That's unusual for him, he normally doesn't waste himself chasing those.
Mac sounded like a moron saying Roger isn't used to going five-sets. This was his 30th five-set match, the great players usually finish their careers having played between 40 and 50 five-setters.
Now in his late 20's and having 30 such matches under his belt Roger is right on pace to finish in that range, he is no more OR LESS accustomed to playing those kinds of matches than any other top player. -
slingshot4everRoddick rolled today

wildcats20Pretty much Wimby and the US Open are the only tennis events I'll tune in for. And usually they never disappoint.
