qualifying results, top 5 cars are all 104mph around the course, less than .5 seconds between them.
Speed tv will have the race live Sat. 5-8 pm -
j_crazyI always thought that Mid-Ohio would be a great NASCAR road course. i know it's not as flashy as sonoma or watkins glen, but if we're gonna waste a weekend letting ambrose and said finish top 20, we might as well change the fucking venue once in awhile.

Speedofsandjcrazy, I agree. I think there was a reason/excuse given many years ago but I can't remember what. If I asked now they will say 'no available dates'. KC & Kentucky are already waiting in line.
Whatever happened with the Mansfield truck race ? -
SpeedofsandIt looks like a great day for racing up there. Tremblay's Mazda sure got totaled. Just one of them deals..

I used to go back in the CART days as a kid. Always loved it.

Speedofsandgood day for MSR. http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2010/06/20/pruett-gets-another-victory-at-mid-ohio.html?sid=101
What trumped the performance was that of Pataskala-based Mike Shank Racing as a whole.
Oswaldo Negri, who finished second, delivered the Ford-powered Shank team its first podium finish in what’s considered its home race.
Shank felt great, too. His wife and business partner, Mary Beth Shank, ordered him to be happy, he said, even if anything short of victory is never his idea of a great day.
But considering that Michael Valiante finished fourth in the team’s other car (#6 in my pic above)— the one the team had to put together the previous 10 days after watching their primary one burn two weeks ago in the last race — “I am going to enjoy the celebration,” Shank said. -
HereticI spent the weekend there. Fun races Saturday. The ARCA trucks today was okay. They tried hard despite not having road course experience and my group pretty much felt we'd like to see them again. Didn't understand why ALL THREE short support races were today, while the two long races were yesterday. Fuck, I was so wasted that I don't remember ANY of the Rolex race. It was a hot day and I started drinking about 10 a.m. On the other hand, they were done by like 3 or so today and by that time, I was just starting to "hair of the dog" my way out of the hangover from hell.
jcrazy: I agree with that. And with Baltimore getting an IRL race next year, I'm not sure what their future is with Mid-Ohio. It'd be great if Trueman-Gajoch could swing something with them. -

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.(6-29-10) - GRAND-AM Road Racing today assessed penalties on the No. 01 team that competes in the Daytona Prototype class, as a result of a rule violation during the June 19 Rolex Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
During post-race inspection, the team was found to be in violation of Daytona Prototype Regulations 4-1.1 Engine Eligibility (components and performance levels that must be strictly adhered to).
As a result, the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team was penalized 25 team points; drivers Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas were penalized 25 driver points; and BMW was penalized 25 manufacturer points (see standings).
Additionally, the team was fined $15,000 payable to Camp Boggy Creek, a full-service camp for seriously ill children and the official charity of GRAND-AM.
GRAND-AM also announced a rule change affecting any teams using the 5.0-liter BMW V-8 engine. Cars electing to use this engine must weigh an additional 75 pounds, increasing the weight minimum to 2,350 lbs.
