Here come some bogies.... Phil might be in this one...

Despite struggling lately, the best golfer in the world shot a 66 yesterday. I don't think it's too foolish to think if he played well today he could win. It obviously isn't turning out that way, but it's easy to say that after he isn't making a run.

Same thing I was thinking. He's still right there with McDowell beginning to struggle.

McDowell will now be back to -2. I swear I will puke if Havret wins. He is reminding me an awful lot though of Ben Curtis at the 03 Open he won when all the other big names faltered around him while he played steady.

He shot -6 yesterday... if he was -1 on the day, he would likely be tied for the lead. Are you an idiot tk421?

When's the last time Tiger had two consecutive rounds under par? He's just not there yet.
  • karen lotz
wow that was the first I had seen Johnson's triple. What the fuck was that second chip?
  • dave
probably at the Memorial. He's struggling by you aren't seeing anyone have 2 great days in a row this week.
  • IggyPride00
Phil really is a god awful putter. Other than Friday's front nine, I don't think I have seen him make anything over 10 feet all week.
  • dave
Speaking of Ben Curtis, after a 78 opening round he might end up with a top 10 finish.

McDowell needs to send Phil, Ernie and Tiger a thankyou note after the tournament for making no effort to run him down today. This has been the most anti-climatic round of golf I have possibly ever watched, as the leaders have been coming back to the field all day and the field's answer has consistently been to run the other way.

McDowell is choking away his lead on the 14th. This is an ugly performance by everyone. Who knows how this is gonna end, but even par is probably looking decent right now.
  • IggyPride00
Well Ernie just screwed his chance of posting even.

McDowell is leaking oil and the other guys are leaking at BP quantities. It is amazing that no one is trying to seize this tournament right now.

McDowell in the bunker on 17, but he has a two shot lead. If he finds a way to lose this, it'll be sickening. Havret could put some pressure on him with a birdie on 18.
  • dave
crazy day, these guys must be so mentally and physically drained. Tiger with another top 5 even playing poorly.
  • ironman02
McDowell Even after a bogey at 17. Havret in the bunker on 17 after his 2nd shot. This could get interesting if Havret can get something close out of the bunker.
  • ironman02
Well, McDowell got it done. What an ugly Sunday at Pebble.

Definitely wasn't an exciting day of golf.

surprisingly bad U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, didn't think that was possible

the tournament really didn't capture any headlines

I was really excited about it heading into today but that was super boring. I hope Phil, Ernie and Tiger stare at the final leaderboard tonight and wonder how the fuck they let Havret and McDowell finish in front of them. Those 2 would probably been shitting their pants most likely had any of the 3 of them started making a bunch of birdies, but that just never happened. When you see them sliding down the board at the same time you are making bogeys like McDowell was, you never have to press really because they aren't making up ground. I am just stunned no one made a run today.

Looks like Tiger kept his streak of never coming from behind to win and Dustin Johnson kept his streak of never winning a major in tact.

Shocking a player who had never won fell apart on Sunday at the Open. What was he 70-71-66-82......nice
  • karen lotz
Yeah hopefully today's round doesn't completely destroy Johnson's confidence. He played really well for the first 3 rounds at a very tough course. I think he is only 25, maybe 26 and he has a lot of talent. If he can keep it together mentally, he is going to have a very good career and will get multiple shots at majors. I don't think he is going to get a lot of sleep the next few nights.

Glad I'm not a betting man.

McDowell and Els are close neighbors in Lake Nona next to the Orlando airport.

The good news is that America didn't have to deal with the grotesque ramifications of a Woods victory on Father's Day, the possibility of a sappy scene where a misfit dad weeps and tells us how dearly he misses his kids, wherever they are.

This was from Jay Mariotti's column this morning and it made me laugh as he always gets wound up about anything Tiger related.
