Reds vs Giants......Game 3
-
daveCongrats to Harang on a great game, just what the team needed. Looks like he's safe in the rotation probably for the year. Now what will Dusty do in the 8th?
-
SportsAndLadyNeed to blow this mother open here..2nd and 3rd, 0 outs
-
SportsAndLadyWord.
6-2 Reds -
daveRolen and Gomes are flat out raking.
-
wildcats20Since when did Aaron Harang deserve run support??
-
davehe we go, weeeeeeeeeeeee
edit: nice dp ball -
Ironman92Tell me again who we traded in obtaining Scott Rolen.
Rolen is a professional's professional.
We have some guys that understand baseball on this team and hopefully that can make up for our manager that does not. -
daveHuge advantage for the Redlegs in tomorrow's pitching matchup. Get the split!
-
Ironman92Yeah....but I'll count on Dusty resting Rolen and I'll guess Cabrera and we'll score maybe 1 run.....this is how Dusty does business.
-
daveThey are old, you can't run em into the ground. It's not like Dusty wants them on the bench, but a day game is the right time to have them sit.
-
Ironman92...not both of them
Take them out of tonight's game....what do you have? Why can't he look ahead and do 1 a game a few times a week. He lucked out 2 times ago when Rolen and Gomes pinch hit and won it for him after his lineup produced zilch. Votto isn't hitting much and Phillips will bat 4th.......we've seen how this works......PHILLIPS BATS 2nd!
It's very simple....sit one of them tomorrow and let Paul freaking Janish get 3 AB.......and when Janish gets 2 hits let him start the next game for the other.
Why managers treat game 2 of a DH or the final game of a series any different is beyond me.
It took Dusty 2 years to figure out Phillips is the perfect #2 hitter and that it's OK to have back to back players that hit from the same side of the plate........Cabrera, Phillips, Votto, Rolen, Stubbs and Bruce need to be in there as much as possible and if not let 1 sit out a game every now and then.......doesn't Phillips ever need a break? Isn't he 30 and has missed 3 innings all year.....to bat him 4th as much as he has and never take him out.....well I'll just say I have my thoughts that I won't share on here. There are 3 gigantic reasons the Reds are hitting better this year when it counts.......Cabrera, Gomes and Rolen....can't sit 2 of them everytime....and Dusty does. -
gerb131Glad they won tonight and Harang pitched pretty well. Hope they can get the split tomorrow afternoon.
-
Mooney44CardsOld Harang back? Lucky start? Maybe the Giants just never see him?
-
daveIronman, you can look at it both ways, neither is the perfect answer. The Cardinals frequently rest 2-3 of their best players at a time, and I remember LaRussa saying he does it like that so that he has his best team in there together for as many games as possible.
I do agree about moving BP though, Gomes should slide up to the 4 hole with Cairo down in the lineup. -

He's shown promiss lately, I'd say it's a little of everything you say plus a pretty weak offensive lineup. -
Ironman92.....LaRussa may do that.....but he also bats the pitcher 8th and right now Rolen is our Pujols
I'd leave resting Rolen up to Rolen......I'd trust him completely.......I wouldn't trust Gomes...lol, but if I needed someone to take a bullett to the knee and barely flinch.....Gomes is my man!
I'm done with this....sorry I brought up my guess for tomorrow....the Reds won, Harang stepped up and Jesus Rolen kept it going. Have a good evening Dave! -
SportsAndLadyDusty will play Janish for (4-5 tonight) Cabrera in tomorrow's day game.
-
daveThey are both out for tomorrow, I thought you knew that, my bad.
-
dave2-0 Dodgers after 2.5 on a Manny homer.
