I like Bob Costas back on play-by-play
  • darbypitcher22
    ^^^^

I used to like him too back when the playoffs were on NBC and I miss Jim Kaat on YES telecasts...

    I didn't know that.

Warren Spahn won his first game in 1946 when he was almost 25 (he turned that age April 23).

He ended up with 363 wins.

14 Ks through 7....yeah I'd say he's going to be OK.

that's about six or seven in a row
  • wes_mantooth
Also doesn't hurt that he goes against the pirates and tribe first

While that helps, his stuff is sick, hopefully this guy is around for a long time because he is going to be fun to watch. He has 4 pitches that he can go to to strike a guy out, thats unreal.

Hard to say someone is legit after their first professional game against the Pirates, but Strasburg in legit.

    14 k's is sick!

Pretty sure I never said he would get 14 against the reds, but since you are trying to compare the reds and pirates you should probably know the reds are one of the league leaders in Ks.
  • CinciX12
I know you didn't say that, and I know the Reds do get a lot of K's, but our offense is definitely better than what Pittsburgh has.

Yes, but good pitching is good pitching. Kid is nasty. Has any other pitcher struck out 14 Pirates in 7 innings this year? Im sure they have faced some guys that you would consider great and they havent done that....

I was hoping that they yanked him after the 1st K in the 7th. Then after the 2nd. Should have let him come out to a standing O and not between innings.

Upon further review... Strasburg is good
