Omar Vizquel to sign with the Chicago White Sox
-
George CostanzaWill be a 1 year deal and he will be a backup.
-
Swamp FoxSince he is an ex Indian, I'm sure that he will have the base hit that drives in the run that clinches a play-off spot next Fall.
-
Mr PatYou know, I'm happy about this. Can't have enough talent on the bench.
-
HitsRusany links...if true another public relations disaster for the Tribe.
-
burt07Sigh. Why would the Indians not sign him? Just made too much damn sense.
-
iclfan2Ehhh. As an Indians fan I love Omar, but would not like to see him with the Sox
-
LocoEngineer66Come on Mr Acta ... better get in the race.

The 'problem' is not the 'sense'....but the 'cents'. Apparently he is too expensive for Silas (Marner) Dolan.burt07 wrote: Sigh. Why would the Indians not sign him? Just made too much damn sense. -
darbypitcher22Wouldn't you much rather see him retire than become a White Sox and hang around for another year not playing like last year in Texas?

HitsRusWell, it's official...Omar to the ChiSox ...$1.375 million 1 year deal. Thanks, Paul. I'm really warming up to next year's Tribe.....makes me want to go out and buy extra Opening Day tix this weekend.

daveWhy do Indians fans want him? I'm glad they didn't go after him. They are rebuilding and need to get the younger guys as many ABs as possible. Omar probably wants to go somewhere he has a shot to win a ring. It's not a good fit either way.
It's not like he's going to sell tickets. Nobody is gonna go to a game to see him sit in the dugout 80% of the time.
Hopefully he will one day be a coach for the Tribe. -

You kind of answered your own question. No one wants them to sign him to play. They want to sign him to play 20% of the time and be a great mentor for Valbuena and Cabrera. Look at what he did with Elvis Andrus this year. Thats why we wanted him, we wanted him to help the young guys, not take their ABs.dave wrote: Why do Indians fans want him? I think you have to trust your coaches for that, not use up a roster spot and money you don't have. Druby is already gold glove material, Valbuena isn't bad. If Omar could hit lefties I think it would be a decent move but he can't.
