Stephen Strasburg & the Nats vs. Cincinnati Reds - June 4th?
-
Mooney44CardsAccording to this Nats beat writer, its likely:

Possibly that would put him up against the Reds "Ace" (if we want to even call him that) Aaron Harang.
It will be an interesting night in the Nation's Capital if it ends up happening. Lets hope the good guys give him a little "welcome to the Majors" message to remember them by.... -
brutus161No, he'll either be on the 3rd or the 8th. The Nationals upper management have been very loud about the fact that he is in the minors to get used to pitching every 5th day. Pitching on the 4th would be on the sixth day. I say it's the 8th against a very week Pirate lineup.
-
Mooney44CardsThink what you want, but the opportunity to sell some tickets to a friday night game, as opposed to a tuesday game sometimes wins out.

Or they could be saying "the friday night game will already get a decent crowd (relative), so lets have him start on a tuesday where people most likely wouldn't be coming out"Mooney44Cards wrote: Think what you want, but the opportunity to sell some tickets to a friday night game, as opposed to a tuesday game sometimes wins out. -
Azubuike24Or they won't decide until very close to it and people will already be buying tickets for the 4th.
-
jordo212000I've heard long before Mooney's post that the Nats were circling this game as his first start.

With off days, it never works out perfect to pitch every 5th day.brutus161 wrote: No, he'll either be on the 3rd or the 8th. In the minors it does, they just skip someone in the rotation. Hell in Washington they could do the same, they aren't very deep in the rotation.Sonofanump wrote:

Mooney44CardsMLB.com is saying he'll probably pitch against the Pirates June 8th-11th.
Good move IMO.
Give him one more game in the minors to prepare himself.....he'll be seeing that level of talent when he pitches against the Bucs. lol -

Here's a riddle for you then. So let's say pitcher A pitches on Wednesday, they have the next Monday off due to travel, what day does pitcher A pitch on?dave wrote:

darbypitcher22Nationals television said last night that he'll most likely be making the debut against Pittsburgh, as that was a hot topic as the Nats played out in San Francisco
-
thavoiceYa wanna set him up for success...and having his first start against a team that has been shutout 7 times is a good time to bring him aboard.
-
Azubuike24Not to mention a Tuesday night game against the worst road-drawing team in the sport. It's the perfect storm for him to debut and do it successfully.
-
jordo212000I'm just glad he won't debut against the Reds. Strasburg is going to be tough

brutus161Don't doubt me bitches!!
