NBA Draft

The draft measurements are up... http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/

    Notables:
Cousins 6'10.75" w/ shoes, but makes up with a 7'5.75" wingspan.
    Whitesdale with a 7'7" wingspan
Wesley Johnson with a 7'1" wingspan

    Whiteside. However, some interesting measurements.

DeMarcus Cousins, 6'10.75 and 292 lbs.

A far cry from the 230 or 240 we saw him compared to by a certain individual.

Cole Aldrich only 6'9 with shoes. He doesn't have the footwork or skill of many other bigs, so does his stock fall?
  • j_crazy
cousins' 16% body fat is also notable IMO.
  • Azubuike24
That can really only benefit his stock.

Imagine what the guy could do if he got into great shape?
  • jpake1
That's after he got in a lot better shape at UK. Teams know he can be a bit lazy, but they all believe that they can whip his ass into beastly shape in a few years.
  • Azubuike24
I guess that's something you would have to determine with him. Is he driven enough to get into great shape and be great? Or just stay in average shape and be good. I got to about 10-12% body fat and it's amazing how different it can feel. If he just trims about 10 lbs of fat off and gets on a strict diet he could easily get that to 10% in a season.

For a guy like Favors, he's not going to really get into much better shape.

Aldrich i think will be solid in the NBA. Nothing great, but a solid post player

The draft is right around the corner. The Blazers traded the 44th plus cash for the 34th pick belonging to the Warriors. I think the Blazers have something else up their sleeve. They're usually very very very active.

Sixers traded Dalembert to the Kings for Nocioni and Spencer Hawes. It was done basically because Brand and Dalembert were not effective together. Dalembert is an expiring of 12M after this season and they could have obtained more from getting rid of Dalembert even though they do get Favors/Cousins/Turner out of it.

Can't phathom why Philly did that trade.

Apparently, the Pacers turned down a trade from the Wolves for Flynn, 16th, and 23rd for the 10th pick. I would have taken that pick in a friggin' second. I thought the Pacers were looking for a PG. I first heard it was the other way around, so who knows.
  • wildcats20
Wow...the Pacers would have got a very good YOUNG PG in Flynn and 2 more picks...I don't know how you pass that up honestly.
  • jpake1
I think it's BS. I first heard the Wolves turned down the 10th for Flynn... so why would they include the 16th and 23rd? I heard they included it because the 10th was part of a package-- maybe the Wolves wanted Granger or something Larry wasn't willing to give up. Either way, I think Bird is one of the worst in the NBA. Worst franchise IMO. Just a gut feeling. I usually never agree with a single thing they do.

I like that trade by the Sixers. So as of right now, they would have Turner, Iggy, Nocioni, Brand and Hawes. That's a solid starting 5 in the east.

Although I do think they will make more moves and completely shake things up.

Thats what I heard. The Wolves like Granger and were looking to include him somehow

No way they are putting both Louis Williams and Jrue Holiday on the bench. If they draft Turner, see ya AI2.

I mentioned this over on the Cavs thread but it looks like the Blazers have some interest in Mo Williams. I'd be happy with Mo Williams for Bayless and the 22nd pick
  • thedynasty1998
Mo Williams for Bayless AND the 22nd pick? The Blazers cannot be that dumb?

    Its not that bad.

Rockets traded the 8th pick (right to Rudy Gay) for Shane Battier.....
Wizards traded away the 5th pick, Songalia and Etan Thomas for Mike Miller and Randy Foye

Trades like this happen all the time. Looking at those two examples, I dont think Mo for Bayless and the 22nd is that bad
  • thedynasty1998
If you are the Cavs, you do that trade, I just don't think that interests Portland.

I honestly thought Bayless put up better numbers than what he did, until I just looked him up. I think Bayless is a really promising young player and Mo Williams is sort of maxed out in his potential.

Maybe I was wrong in that Portland might consider it, but I still wouldn't understand that move by Portland. I would think they could get something better than Mo Williams with that package.
  • jpake1
I think it's a pretty decent deal. If anything, I think Portland needs to give up more. Bayless hasn't proven a single thing in two years. Mo is at least a border line all star.
  • jpake1
Looks like the Nets are maybe going with Wes Johnson. I still don't know about that. I think it may be a ploy to scare Minni into giving them one of their later 1st so they can package that pick and maybe get back into the late lottery.
  • jpake1
Rumor has it that Memphis and Minni are getting close to a deal. Memphis would get the 16th pick while giving up the 25th and 28th pick. I can see Minni doing that and send one of those picks to New Jersey so they don't take their guy.

I agree. I read somewhere that they want a score first/shooting pg like Mo. Bayless might have some potential but he cant shoot the ball like Mo Williams. They also want a guard that doesnt need the ball in his hands to be effective so that Brandon Roy can handle the ball more.

Players I wouldn't mind seeing the Celtics take at #19

Terrico White - PG Ole Miss

James Anderson - F Oklahoma State

Solomon Alabi - C Florida State

    Hassan Whiteside - C Marshall

    2nd Round:

    Sherron Collins - PG/SG - Kansas

    Greivis Vasquez - PG/SG - Maryland

    Luke Harangody - SF/PF - Notre Dame
  • jpake1
Give me Vasquez out of that group. I like the kid. I saw him beast it up against my Tar Heels for years. Not a great athlete, but gets the job done. I've been reading tat Whiteside may drop to the 2nd. People are very worried about his mature and the fact he's not ready to even touch the court this coming year. Deandre Jordan type of fall may happen.
