Jim Brown on Lebron: "I think he's gonna leave"

SQ_Crazies wrote: I didn't read anyone else's post on this thread, partly because I don't care and partly because, well, I don't care. But IMO, Jim Brown is 100% correct. He's being treated like dog shit and Cleveland fans don't deserve him.

I've heard so many of them say things like "whatever, let him leave", "team first, I don't root for one player", etc., etc.

First of all, all it is is Cleveland fans setting themselves up for him leaving because they think it's going to happen anyways. And secondly, he is the team, dipshits.

DA was right, Cleveland doesn't deserve a winner because they trash their own guys when they lose. I always find it interesting that when I see the Steelers lose a game, I hear their fan base stand up for their team and rally around them. When a Cleveland team loses, it's like the world is ending and everyone on the team is a scum bag.
Uh-Oh! You just made this thread heated.

No, you make ridiculous statement after ridiculous statement and when it blows up in your face you try to convince people you were taken out of "context". Thats what you do.

Unfortunately, Jim's words for us Cleveland fans command our attention. That's the way it is and he knows it. However, I hope he's wrong on this one, like he's been wrong on many other things.

#1: I'm tired of hearing about LeBoob, let's wait until free agency starts before we have 6 threads a day.

#2: Am I the only that feels that the more people that come out with "He's going to leave" the greater the chance that he actually STAYS? Think about it, if the Cavs FO felt no pressure about him staying they would have no incentive to try to get another piece. Remember, Lebron said "My team and I have a plan that we are going to execute", and I think his team includes Oakley and Brown.

    Really?

You lost ALL credibility with THAT statement. Noted frontrunners and you make THAT statement about them?

You must not have been around when they were on that slide they had last year against the Browns, Raiders, etc. Their fan base was up on the ledge ready to jump.

That comment is the funniest shit I've seen posted on here in a LONG time. A few of their diehards may have stuck by them, but when they started losing, their gear (shirts, hats, etc) was NOWHERE to be found. They won a couple down the stretch and "poof" it magically reappeared.

My boss and I were talking about this today. One thing about him is that he IS a shrewd businessman and knows how to "play the game." So what's going on THIS Summer? Oh, you say he's shooting a movie? "Hey, I might come play in YOUR city....or maybe YOUR city" all the while as he's drumming up interest for his movie.

I don't think it has anything to do with it. While friends, I don't see Oakley and Brown as part of his team at all. Those guys only comment on the issue because people are asking them. It's a busy topic. Hell, Ellen from American Idol is probably getting asked what she thinks LBJ is going to do. I'm not sure if he stays or goes, and I don't think the hype around it matters. LBJ and his guys have a plan that they're going to follow. I imagine taking time off is #1, like he's doing right now. I imagine he'll see what kinds of trades the Cavs can line up first. I don't think he WANTS to leave. I think he would LOVE to stay in Ohio. Cleveland just has to give him more of a reason than what they have now.

Jim Brown just needs to STFU and get out!! Especially GTFO of the Brown's organization. Complete worthless if you ask me.

I agree and disagree with this statement. In my opinion, Cleveland and Pittsburgh are the same as far as fanbases. Both have their diehard fans and a lot of fans who get really quiet the minute things go wrong. Let's face it, you know and I know that if the Browns have a couple of years where they're better than the Steelers, you'll see a lot more Browns-wear in NEO...and some of it will be worn by people you could have swore you watched with Steeler stuff in the past. And let's face it: I know you're a hardcore loyal fan who will be pissed off about the frontrunners who suddenly became "SUPERFANS!" of the Browns, but you know that some people will be acting like that's a great victory because the frontrunners are on your side, now.

As for the other teams, the Indians, Cavs, Pens and Pirates get support when they're winners, but all have exhibited dark days when things aren't going well. I don't think you could differentiate between the fanbases of those teams.

He seemed to do a good job of "advising" Mo Clarett

Some people just need to go away. Jim Brown is one of them.

Yeah, I love what Jim Brown was as a Browns player and it's cool he still loves the organization, but nobody cares anymore.

Jim retired early leaving the Browns, he's probably wanting LeBron to bolt as well, so his early exit isn't the most famous in Cleveland anymore.
  • just_a_swimmer
I'm sure Lebron has watched the game. He knows exactly why people felt the way they felt. The problem is, does he see himself as the kid from Akron that played really bad or the superstar that that did everything he could?

Not only that if wasn't just cleveland fans chastising Lebron. Everyone was. I don't think it was an atrocity at all. It's more like a slap against the back of your head and then an alright now lets go get this done. He'll stay IMO.

By telling Maurice to stay in school? lol. Where do people get this perception that he gave Mo bad advise. Mo was the one who decided to sue the NFL and enter the draft. Brown had nothing to do with that.

I know there are frontrunners with every organization but his comment was comical, at best. It was like every Steeler fan backed them when they were on a slide. He's obviously confined to his own, little world.

I've made the statement that as a Brown's fan "I keep my friends close and my enemies closer" so people would be pretty surprised how much I'm aware of the "going's on" within the Pittsburgh organization. This includes checking out their message boards (not posting) with somewhat regularity.

When the Steelers lost to the Jags in Tomlin's first year you had Steeler fan assholes calling him a "token" and saying they were going to "reach out to their contacts in the KKK and have him taken care of", calling him the "N word" etc on some of these message boards. Shockingly, the asswipe leading the charge didn't get banned by the site (SteelCityInsiders.com).

So (NRTU), I really don't want to hear his shit about how Steeler fans "rally" behind their franchise in down times just because some Cleveland fans are critical of Lebron.

BR, your jealousy of the Steelers, their success, and their fans reek from your keyboard. I guess I cant blame you I mean you are a fan of the worst team and sports city in the country. I'm sure all us Steeler fans will welcome you if you want to come aboard. Believe me, I know a ton of Clown fans who've switched sides the last 4 or 5 years.

No, everybody WANTS a winner, some shop around until they find one.

After 40 years of losing and embarrassment, I think it's their right to shop around. Hell, even Detroit will be better than the Clowns this season.

This is absolutely the line that a diehard Browns fan will spew all day, but it is far from the truth in regards to people leaving the Browns fan base. That's not the reason in this case.

Oh please. So some fucking looney tune on a message board said he was going to reach out to the KKK to kill Tomlin because the Steelers lost to the Jags in his 1st season???? LMFAO. Sounds like a fucking idiot psycho moron and EVERY team has some assholes like this in their fan base. That's some extreme fuckrag who is a delusional racist piece of shit. Trust me, the Browns have theirs too......and I don't need to go lurk on their message boards to tell you that.

That nutjob obviously is not your average Steeler fan. And that's too bad that you have frontrunner Steeler fans around you...but the Steeler fans and their gear were out in full force where I live during last season's slide.

Oh, I'm sure he's not but during that slide last year they were jumping off in droves only to jump back on when they got that mini winning streak to close out the year.

When Tomlin lost that JAX playoff game there were PLENTY asking for his head. Same can be said for last year's losing streak when he was prepared to "unleash Hell" or whatever the fuck he said.
