A few Lebron questions

• gut

  1) If Lebron leaves and wins a handful of championships somewhere else, would you minimize the accomplishment a bit? Mainly, isn't it more impressive for a guy who stays and helps build a championship team than one who takes the mercenary route?
  
  2) That said, if CLE has been mismanaged, should that be held against Lebron?
  
  3) Counterpoint, to what extent is Lebron responsible for sub-par decisions centered around win now? Lebron is 25, and if you were Ferry and knew Lebron would be there 10 more years, how does that impact your moves the last few seasons?
  
  4) Consensus has finally come around to Mike Brown not having the right stuff for the playoffs. Didn't Lebron kind of go to bat for Mike Brown a few years ago (don't recall, just asking)?

  I'll answer #1.
  
  Gilbert's main selling tool to keep LBJ in Cleveland is to use the "legacy" angle. If he leaves and wins a championship elsewhere, his legacy WILL be tarnished. He'll always be the "guy who couldn't get it done in his hometown (area) that promised a championship."

  2. Mismanaged??? Lebron and the Cavs choked to inferior teams. Plain and simple.

  4. Lebron and the other Cavs players do not have the right stuff for the Playoffs. It could change if they put in the same effort into the Playoffs as they do dance moves,pre game intro's and posing for fake pictures. The true Championship type players save their dancing for after winning the 'ship.

  Orlando was the better team, but Cleveland SHOULD have been able to beat Boston. The effort wasn't there, which is why I was so pissed.
  
  Last season against Orlando, Cleveland was playing their best and still could best the Magic.

  Boston beat us this year because they were better. Period. Look how they're doing against Orlando right now? MANY people, myself included, just underestimated them. They're better than they were in '08--doesn't mean they'll win the title though because the Lakers are too and so are the Magic.

  1. Eh, somewhat. Championships are championships, regardless.
  
  2. Again, somewhat. IMO, LeBron cares too much about his image to force his front office to make a big move. If Kobe hadn't demanded a trade and all that mess, Gasol would have never landed in LA. Mitch knew he had to do something big or he was going to lose Kobe.
  
  3. They were certainly in "win it all now" mode.. But in all fairness to LeBron, 90% of the moves the Cavs have made in the past few years were god afwul.
  
  4. Not too sure about that one, but Brown is NOT a big time NBA coach.

  1: Nope. Does anyone remember that Oscar Robertson couldn't get over the hump in Cincinnati and had to go to Milwaukee to get a title? No, all that matters is getting the ring, doesn't really matter where. But if you are going to look for something to hold against LeBron that would be it.
  
  2: It depends. LeBron took that wretched 07 team to the finals all on his own and the past two years with better talent they haven't gotten back there. Last year you couldn't have asked more from him. This year it falls on him quite a bit
  
  3: I don't think responsibility for the front offices mentality falls on LeBron at all. The Cavs have made moves the past couple of years assuming that Mo Williams was going to be that number 2 gunner that LeBron has never really had. But Mo Williams showed last year that he wasn't but the deals made in the off season were made as if he was.
  
  4: I don't really care if LeBron went to bat for Mike Brown. Mike Brown is an average coach in the NBA and can never lead the Cavs to a title and should be fired right now for failing so spectacularly these past two springs. He is Doug Collins 2.0, without the playing experience.

  Cavs were very overated by the homer fans in Cleveland and on this site, and also showed how large their vagina's were in the Boston series. Going back to the Chicago series, real students of the game could see the train wreck coming.

  If he won 4 titles or whatever and people tried to say he was better than Jordan...well without seeing those title runs, I'd be inclined to say it's not the same when you "cheat the system" going the mercenary route.
  
  Jordan played the hand he was dealt, to the tune of 2 3-peats, and might have won more titles had he not decided to go fool around with baseball a few years. IMO Lebron won't touch Jordan, but I have to reluctantly admit Kobe may be working his way into that discussion if he ends-up with 6 titles.
  
  That said, I also don't think those Bulls teams were quite as great as everyone believes. When you looked around the NBA at the time, they didn't really have a legit challenger. They had a huge edge in team chemistry with a consistent core year to year with the occasional tweaks. Other teams in the league had a lot more turnover and no one could match them in terms of team chemistry. That edge was just a gap that was impossible to bridge.
