best Cleveland sports season since 1965?
-
NonWhat do you think?
Browns were still in championship games in the late 60s but didn't win any more after 1964. I guess if you're old enough one of those years like 68 or 69 could be considered the best.
Or maybe one of the Indians seasons in the 90s or the Browns teams that lost to Denver or a recent Cavs season. -
skankThe Browns teams of the early 80's (Kardiac Kids) and the late 80s were my favorites.
-
devil1197I'd have to say the Indians teams of the 90's.

Actually I used to love going to Cleveland Force games. Hate soccer but the indoor game was real exciting.hoops23 wrote:

slide22Wasn't around in the 80's and a Reds fan over the Indians... So my favorite would be the 07' Browns. Granted, no playoffs and only a 10-6 season, but there was just something fun about that year.

reclegend22Hoops, now you're really going to hate me ... being a NW Ohio guy, I cheered my heart out for Perrysburg's Jimmy L and his fish.
What a night that was when he ran around the outfield, rallying each section of Dolphin Stadium. Seems like yesterday. In reality, it was almost 14 years ago. My God. -

GOONx19'97 Indians, one inning. '07 Indians, one game.
But I wasn't alive for the Drive, the Fumble, or the Shot. -

Wooball1995 Indians. No, they didn't win the World Series, but that was a special year. Won the AL for the first time in over 40 years along with all the come from behind wins and the electricity at the new Jacob's Field was something else. We will never see a team again like:
C - Alomar Jr.
1B - Pauly
2B - Carlos Baerga
SS - Omar Vizquel
3B - Jim Thome
RF - ManRam
CF - K-Love
RF - Albert Belle
DH - Eddie Murray
P - El Presidente, Bulldog, Nagy, Senor Smoke -
cbus4life'95 or '97 Indians.

jmog'95 or '97 Indians is the right answer.

You are General Zod, aren't you?
Little BRF was gathered around his transistor radio listening to that game on Dec. 27, 1964...................and it's pretty much been downhill since then!!!!!.....(with a few teasers here and there) -
NOL fanif you want to look at it from the perspective if all 3 teams combined, I'd say it's likely 2007
Cavs first conference title, Indians win the division and make it to ALCS, Browns win 10 games
it's not very often all 3 teams have seasons like that in the same year -
Cleveland BuckI was just a little kid when I watched The Drive and The Fumble, so other than being aware that I was watching it and recalling my father screaming expletives at the television, I don't remember all that much. I remember the 1989 AFC title game in Denver, that was great.
The 88-89 Cavs were the best team in Cavs history to that point, owned the Bulls all season, then Jordan hits over Ehlo to knock them out. That was a great time.
The 1994 Indians were a young team in a brand new stadium and were contending for a playoff spot for the first time in my life. The strike put an end to that. This gets my vote for a Cleveland team's best season because at least the team didn't blow it, the whole league shut down so they didn't have the chance to blow it.
The 1995 Indians were very exciting until the best team in the league all year couldn't score in the World Series.
The 1997 Indians got hot at the right time, played a thrilling series to knock off the cocksuckers from New York. I can still see Sandy's home run off of Rivera in the 8th and the crowd exploding. This was the most exciting sports ride of my life (except possibly the '02 Buckeyes). Winning 2-1 entering the bottom of the 9th of Game 7 of the World Series. Living in a not-so-affluent part of Cleveland, the neighbors were firing their guns outside. Then I see Senor Suck come out of the pen and I knew we were finished. Fuck Jose Mesa.
The Browns come back in 1999 and lose their first game back to Shitsburgh 43-0. Outstanding.
The 2006-07 Cavs with a great upset of the Pistons get stomped by the Spurs in the Finals. That was nice as well.
The 2007 Indians lead the Red Sox 3-1 in the ALCS with the green, overmatched Rockies awaiting the winner. Luckily, the Tribe lost three straight so I wouldn't have to worry about what to do if we actually won a championship.
The 2008-09 Cavs dominate the regular season only to get humiliated by Orlando. No thanks.
The 2009-10 Cavs dominate the regular season only to quit against the Celtics.
Fuck this. Who started this thread and why?
