  Kobe is in the twilight of his career, but he still has more of that "it" factor over LBJ. LBJ has the better overall skill set now, but not the killer instinct.

  Stupid thread, because it's been done and talked about in a shitload of threads that didn't ask.. but LBJ is. Who do I want in the clutch, a game 7, and the finals.. Kobe. I don't know if that makes sense. LBJ is the best athletism and skills combined. He can dominate the regular season. He does at times dominate the post season more than the regular season. But Kobe has killed before. LBJ is still searching for the prey. At the end of the day, I want Kobe and Wade before LBJ. If I'm starting a team, I take LBJ, no question.

  When LeBron wins one, he can start to claim ownership of the title "the NBA's best player". Right now that accolade is clearly owned by Kobe Bryant. I'm not sure that LBJ will ever be the equal of Kobe at playoff time. Kobe seems to shift into another gear that LeBron can't match right now.

  Yeah, LBJ needs to learn, build, or steal "it". I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt this year, and he played like a punk at the end of the series. Some may kill me for this, but sometimes, he plays like he's entitled to certain things. You're just a big fish in a lake with that attitude. When you get that nasty mentality, then you'll become the big shark in an ocean.

  I agree....thats a very good assessment. Skill wise....LeBron is the best in the world. But like you said Kobe has "it" and hes proven it when it mattered time and time again. LeBron isn't there yet, but I believe he will get his in time.

  Best product in-terms of production? Entertainment? Most fun to watch? Most clutch? I guess once it becomes subjective, and to me, "best player in the NBA" is very subjective, because that can entail many different qualities.
  
  If we are talking numbers or talent, it's LeBron, I think most can concede that, but I also think there are things Kobe does in-terms of skills that LeBron doesn't do as well. If we blend all skills together (scoring, rebounding, passing, handling, athleticism, etc), it's LeBron, but individually Kobe is a better defender, a far better shooter and if we are going to throw in leadership, intangibles, clutchness and other things into that "skill" definition, it becomes very subjective.
  
  Again, it all depends what we are measuring the "best" as.

  Kobe's skill set is something that no NBA player has. There is no player like him in the game, granted the same can be said for LeBron. But, no one is as skilled as Kobe in all facets of basketball; no one can argue that. Kobe has a post game, Bron does not. Kobe is one of the best on ball defenders in the game(like AZ said), Bron is not. And AZ is right. You can't talk about a "best" without the intangibles. LeBron has shown a killer instinct when it matters one time(2007 Pistons). Kobe has it every time he steps onto the floor in the Playoffs. There's no doubt who the better leader is, just look at who is still playing. And the clutchness factor, well that's about as plain as black and white.
  
  Is LeBron the "best player in the world?" Sure, but Paul Pierce also called himself the "best player in the world" shortly before the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

  LBJ is still cleary the single best player...however, even the single best player cannot single-handedly drag a team to the championship.
  
  Being the most dominant and talented baller is sometimes quite a different thing than being a champion.
  
  Sometimes the fifth-best player, and a great supporting cast, is even a better gift for the fans.
  
  LBJ + D. Wade would be a very interesting combo...and one we may very well see next year.

  LeBron is the best player in the game, but he hasn't developed that "go for the kill" instinct yet.
  
  Kobe didn't have it at first either, and it took Jordan 5 or 6 years before he became the bully in the NBA at closing out games.
  
  The problem with LeBron is, he's used to being pampered. My friend and I were talking about LeBron today and after bringing up his "advisors", "friends" and now World Wide Wes, we both came up with the assumption that LeBron probably doesn't even think for himself.
  
  Windy's sentiments today kinda further took that along, as Wes (not the poster here ) has had a lot of say in the things LeBron and the Cavs have done in these 7 years. It's really sad in a way.
  
  LeBron is so used to everyone around him telling him how great he is and how he's already the best player.. You're not going to develop the killer attitude like that. You're going to continue to be a pompous ass who wilts away (not statistically, but mentally) in big games and forces the action far too often, or settles for 3's and other bad shots with the game close in hand.
  
  Kobe has faced adversity from the get-go. In LA he struggled at the beginning of his career, trying to find his spot on a team that had some good talent. He also had Shaq which helped him a lot.. Then Phil Jackson came along and we all know Phil doesn't cater to anybody.
  
  Kobe probably got into it a few times with Phil, but Phil flashed his 6 NBA Finals rings in Kobe's face and said "If you want some of these, you'll listen to me." Lebron has NEVER had anybody like that, EXCEPT Coach K, whom LeBron played his most complete game under in the olympics. I don't think he's ever respected Mike Brown because he can go up to Mike and say "What do you have?" or "Where's your NBA career?"...
  
  That is why I think LeBrons growth has stunted (again, not stat wise, but mentally in terms of that killer instinct".
  
  This is all my take, as a fan of the game and a fan of the Cavs. I've watched LeBron for 7 years. I've NEVER seen a player so good at just about every facet of the game.. Sadly, LeBron is always focused on the game. It seems to me he's more willing to be a business man first, entertainer 2nd, and bball player 3rd.
  
  He's got a big part in a basketball comedy that is being filmed this summer. I think he's helping directing and playing a role? Either way, is this the shit he should be doing at this point? I mean, Mike did Space Jam, but Mike had rings.
