Someone needs to make sure Dan Gilbert doesn't meander over to the 480 Bridge tonight

He has to want to kill himself right now.

For the first time I think it is becoming apparent Lebron might realistically leave given the spectacular collapse of the team and the limited flexibility of the organization to do much with the roster heading into next year.

Gilbert gets the privilege of writing a roughly $25 million dollar check to the league this summer for the luxury tax. If Lebron leaves the value of the franchise could reportedly drop by as much as $150 million dollars immediately, not to mention the fact the Cavs will be about as marketable and popular as a bundle of toxic sub-prime mortgage loans issued by Goldman Sachs. You can expect season ticket holders to flee, so his revenues from the team should drop off a cliff.

Look for there to be a massive payroll purge if Lebron leaves as Gilbert is not going to be willing to lose money on a mediocre team with no superstar and a demoralized fan base that is no longer filling up the arena every night.

It could be dark days ahead for the Gateway complex given the current state of the Indians and the outlook of a Lebron-less Cavs.

Lebron leaves I sincerely hope that he gets no respect in Cleveland when he plays the Cavs. I hope he's the biggest villain ever if he leaves.

You don't have to hope, he will/would be.

Just like Cleveland fans to turn their backs on somebody for leaving.

    Classy group I say.

If Dan Gilbert were to kill himself, I don't think it would be jumping off a bridge. He's more classy than that...

Yeah I agree that makes no sense at all. If Lebron leaves that will absolutely destroy the team for the next five years at least. Cleveland fans would have every right to hate him for building up the program and then leaving it in ruins like that.

Apparently I'm the minority. I don't think I'd be booing him when he came into town if he left. Well let me rephrase that, it would depend where he went. If he went to a place like NY and was on a horrid team that had no shot at the title, then I'd boo because it was clear he left for the bright lights and $$$ vs. trying to win like he says. Now if he went somewhere where they were putting together a great team that had a good chance at the ring, then I wouldn't hate him. Cavs had 7 years to win it with him, and time after time they fell short.

So LeBron himself is completely expunged from blame for that?

    Disagree completely.

Ferry has done everything in his power to bring a winner here yet Lebron has STILL had to carry this team on his back. Granted, he pussed out and tanked a few of his last games in a Cleveland uniform but SEVEN years was enough time to get a championship caliber squad in place.

His supporting cast weren't all-stars but they SHOULD have been good enough to get it done. I appreciate the fact that we had him for the time we did and don't blame him IF he does leave.

It's apparent that his teammates don't have the sack to get it done and, frankly, even WITH the right supporting cast, I don't think Lebron will get it done elsewhere. It seemed like once they hit the playoffs it was like they had a sense of entitlement and it was a forgone conclusion that they would be playing for a championship or at least the ECF. Guess that's why they play the games.

The ONLY part about him leaving that WOULD piss me off is that HE created this mess by WANTING Shaq, Mo & Jamison along with keeping Mike Brown around. "Sure, bring em in....(as he says 'if it doesn't work out I can leave with you holding the bag' under his breath)."

No absolutely not. But I'm not goin to boo and hate a guy for bringing the Cavs back to relevancy and after 7 great years choosing to go get a ring if he truly believes that he won't win one here. I can respect that, however like I said before, if he left and went to a crappy team just for $$ and spotlight and to be a businessman...then I'd boo the hell out of him.

Kind of reminds me of Thome and Boozer situations. They both came out and said "I am going to stay in Cleveland, no doubt about it!" (in more or less words) and then turn there back and took the money and left. That REALLY pissed me off, at least Lebron isn't going around saying I'm for sure going to be a Cav...I'd rather have him be honest and say he's not sure what he's going to do vs. lying and being a dirtbag and boltin out of town for $ and fame.
