Nope, the players wanted to commemorate their lost comrades by playing, but their government ordered them home immediately.

Now, I'm personally rooting for the Dutch and Germans, I like both sides pretty well. However, I agree that the Spain/Argentina final would probably be the aesthetically best one to watch, so I wouldn't mind that. For now, though, I'm pumped for the Argentina/Germany game because both teams are very strong offensively, but they both have weaknesses at the back.

    ^^^Spain-Argentina would play the Semi's

Im rooting for a Spain vs Netherlands Final cause that what I picked. I happen to think they play the best soccer as well with Brazil a close 3rd.

Not sure if you guys signed the petition already, but go ahead and do it so we can get a bid to host the WC in the US.

I'm hoping for a Netherlands/Argentia final... although I wouldnt be disapointed with a Brazil/Argentia final.

Question No. 11: What was the funniest thing you've read about the World Cup this month?

I liked Michael Davies' take on England's demise: "Americans will never completely understand how crap it is, most of the time, to be English. We might have cute accents and be good at cocktail parties. But we are mostly losers." That slayed me. England's fatalistic, self-loathing, S&M-style attitude toward its national team tops Buffalo Bills fans, Minnesota Vikings fans or even Cleveland fans.

Question No. 12: Come on, it can't TOP Cleveland fans -- at least say it's dead even, right?

    Good point.

Is there a decent place to watch Argentina/Germany Saturday morning? What sports bar would be open at 10AM?

Where are you located. Id venture to guess any non-american bar. IE, Irish pub, German bar, Italian bar, etc.

Not many, FatHobbit, but I would look very hard to find one!

Oops, sorry. I'm in Columbus. Do you think it will be on regular tv, or ESPN? I might try to find something in German village.

Its on ESPN. If you find a foreign bar you can call them tonight and they will let you know. Im sure one of them will be opening, if not all. The foreign bars in Toledo (Irish) have opened for most of the AM games if enough people have called and asked. They were open for all the Mexico and USA early games.

Robinho!!!!! Bad defense by the Dutch right there.

    Wow, quick goal by Brazil.
  • trackandccrunner
That defensive effort looked worse then the US haha.

Haha thats what I was thinking. That was exactly the type of fuck up that gave Ghana the winning goal.

Yeah Im listenting to the game on the radio and when I read that you said Brazil scored on a bad defensive effort I thought to myself... it can't be any worse than what the US did. Watched the reply and I just laughed. Im just still in amazement the Dutch let that goal happen.

Is Elano still hurt or has Dani Alves taken his spot?

I hate Brazil but I have to admit, they're by far the best side in this tournament. Not only do they have extremely skilled players all over the pitch but their defense is rock solid. Still another half to go, the Dutch aren't exactly chopped liver but they have to pick up their game if they want to make this interesting.
  • Automatik
    Nice! Got a game now!
  • Automatik
    HOLY SHIT! DUTCH ARE UP!

I gave Brazil the "kiss of death"............good! I hope Holland can hold on.
