We have a chance to be in that top 8 but a bad WC here would kick us out and allow someone else at 9 or 10 in the rankings possibly be the 8th seeded team. Liek I said, its a longshot, but the 2 good WC showing would definitely help the cause.

I said top 7, because typically its top 7 and the host nation. Unless they consider the host nation a top 8 team (sometimes they are).

Right, as in this year it was top 7, because SA stole a spot. But last time when it was in Germany and this coming one in Brazil the host isnt stealing a spot, so it is top 8.

'I was walking towards the Fan Park in Cape Town and blowing it as hard as I could when suddenly my throat started to hurt.
'At first I thought I'd gone down with a bug but the next day it was worse.
'When I went to the doctor he took a look and then laughed.
'He said I'd ruptured my throat by blowing too hard, and that perhaps I had been doing it all wrong.

Just got back to my hotel was able to see a replay of the game tonight, US got screwed however they should have never been in that damn hole!! Why the hell does the US keep allowing early goals????? Just beat Algeria please and advance!
  • like_that
    Per ESPN:

    How they advance
    United States

    • Win vs. Algeria
    • Tie with Algeria, and Slovenia-England tie IF England does not outscore U.S. by 2-or-more goals
    • Tie and England loss

    England
    • Win vs. Slovenia
    • Tie AND U.S.-Algeria tie AND outscore U.S. by 3 goals

    Slovenia
    • Win/tie vs. England
    • Loss AND U.S. tie vs. Algeria
    • Loss AND Algeria win as long as Algeria doesn't make up tiebreakers

    Algeria
    • Win vs. U.S. AND Slovenia win/tie vs. England
    • Win vs. USA AND Slovenia loss vs England AND make up tiebreakers on Slovenia

    Notes
    • Only way both U.S. and England advance is if both win
    • If the U.S. draws with Algeria and England draws with Slovenia, and England scores exactly two more goals than the U.S., the U.S. and England would be even on all tiebreakers for second place. The tie would be broken by drawing lots.

Not to beat a dead horse but I want to put these ridiculous De Rossi diving accusations to rest. Freeze this video at the 19 second mark:

Clearly he gets stepped on his heal. End of story and I won't bring it up any longer, the proof is there.

he literally didn't get touched, quit bringing this up
  • I Wear Pants
Yeah, I watched that video clip and he wasn't touched at all.
  • rock_knutne
Freeze it at the 19 second mark or watch it slow motion, he gets clipped. I wouldn't expect you haters to acknowledge it but that video I posted was high quality, he CLEARLY gets stepped on from behind. I'll leave it at that, you guys just have it enblazed in your minds because of the "Italian reputation" when in fact De Rossi is one of the more honest guys in football......he once told a ref he used his hand on a goal.

BTW "Derk".......I'll bring up what ever I want, you don't like it......too fucking bad!

Holland defeats Japan, 1-0. The Dutch are going to be tough to beat.

Australia lead 1-0 early over Ghana.

Ok...but why did he act like he was shot in the face? I thought bad acting warranted a card.

Terrible red card and a PK was given by this ref, a yellow for sure...I thought that after the first game, maybe the officials were finally getting better. Sigh.

hahahhahahah. I don't know how anybody could even attempt to make the argument that he got touched. Wow. That's a flop and it's plain as day.

anyone hear that France forward Anelka was kicked off the team for saying shit to the coach?

I've had no part in this debate up until now, and I have no hatred towards Italy.

I froze the video exactly at 19 seconds, I watched it in slow motion several times.

He was not touched, clipped, or anything of the sort.
  • Laley23
The video rock posted is the closest thing I have seen that De Rossi was clipped. At the 18.something second mark just before the 19 second mark the two feet are on the same plane. The only question is if the depth is the same or not. Regardless though, he couldve still played through, imo.

Are you talking about Kewells red? That is a red almost 100% of the time. A handball with your arm extended that directly denies a goal. Really no argument can be made. Its a straight red and a PK.
  • Laley23
Cameroon versus Denmark is about to get underway. This should be a great match, as both teams really need the result and 3 pts. The Cameroon players have had meetings with their coach about the line-ups. They dont want so many inexperienced young players playing ahead of them. Should be interesting.
  • Mulva
I really don't think Cameroon is very good. I expect a draw, or a low scoring Denmark win, probably 1-0.

I thought the Aussie red card was a little harsh too. His arm was directly at his side, it really wasn't extended at all. The ball played him, not the other way around. It was a penalty, but a red was definitely harsh.
  • Laley23
GOALLLLL! Samuel Eto'o scores. Boy did that goal really mean a lot to him. Showed more emotion after that goal than most players so far this WC.
  • Mulva
Well, so much for my prediction. Nice assist by Poulsen.

How piss poor was that?? Also, what is the keeper thinking playing Poulsen the ball with 2 Cameroon attackers right next to him? Just kick it long!
  • Laley23
Great goal for Denmark. Perfect pass out of the back by Keirn (sp). Bendtner puts it home.
  • SportsAndLady
    Great goal from Denmark
