Wow, there it is. 3-0 Uruguay and Bafana Bafana are essentially finished in this World Cup.

Another just for good measure 3 - 0

This is still the one that gets me. Not so much the dive/fall, just the fact that it was called with NO time left and in the knockout rounds. It just was such a terrible way to end that game.

But thats life, and as I always tell my team, dont slide in or around the 18 unless you can get to it without the attacker being within a foot.

    LOL @ Spain.

South Africa is done. Mexico was their best shot to pick up 3 points.

Australia had their chances. They were up one guy for 70 minutes of the game.

Did Italy not win the game because of a flop?

It was definitely a lucky break, but you are going to need some luck to win the World Cup. Like i said though, the Aussies were up one guy for 70 minutes and they still couldn't score.

It should have went to extra time then. Not "give italy the game because if a flop".

ok, but....the fuck does that have to do with ANYTHING regarding the flop/dive and the ref calling it?

Well in my opinion the red card was bullshit to begin with. So the penalty at the end evened it out.
  • I Wear Pants
You don't even out calls. You just stop making bad ones if you think you made a mistake on a call.

And I'd say a PK is way more detrimental than a red card.

You guys are FUCKING kidding on Grosso's penalty right? That was a clear cut foul, the defender should have NEVER gone to ground. Christ, we were taught that in pee wee soccer. The referee could have called a foul on Bresciano moments before he awarded the PK.

This shit is really rich, I get pounded for bringing up Italy's past success and how it translates in to current success but you guys bring up a play that happened four years ago which CLEARLY wasn't a dive.

BTW, it doesn't matter how much time is left.......a penalty is a penalty in the 1st minute or in the 120th minute, doesn't matter.

A.) I said defenders shouldnt go to ground.
B.) That is a dive if I have ever seen one. If you can avoid the foul, avoid the fucking foul. He was touched a little bit with his left leg, I dont doubt that. But thats the type of shit I hate, just fucking step over the defender. It was pretty easy to avoid that, he decided to fall over a slight trip and try to con the ref into calling the penalty. I mean, he stayed on his feet 2 seconds beforehand.
C.) I didnt bring up Italys past success. We were talking about dives, and this one came to mind as something that annoys me. Hell, I ripped into Ronaldo for his BS yesterday and was all over Andres Iniesta (one of my favorite players ever) for not avoiding easily avoidable contact today and embellishing stuff.

I ripped into Suarez today for his bs acting. He got fouled, but acted as if a sniper shot him with a .50 cal. I wont even go as far as to say Gross WOULDNT HAVE BEEN fouled, but he kind of falls over the defender. He started his dive before the foul. Just like Ronaldo started his dive the other day at the tp of the box even though he wouldve been fouled if he just continued to actually play.

That is more the issue I have here. People anticipating contact and thus starting a dive before any contact occurs. I despise a dive, but this is almost just as bad.

I forgot who mentioned it, but someone mentioned earlier that the Brazilians are not that bad when it comes to diving....

I said in general Europeans are the worst. I never said certain players dont dive. Rivaldo is classic for BS though. Dida, well I dont understand it as if I recall that was a fan...

Look, I think diving is despicable in soccer. I happen to think Italians do it the most (although Portugal and Spain) are gaining on that perspective. Dont call me a hater either because Spain is my favorite national side outside of USA. I even root for Italy quite often, I wanted them to win the WC last time round once my teams were gone as my best friend in Italian.

If I were to list nations in terms of diving Brazil would be the first country outside of Europe listed, but I can think of about 6-7 countries who are worse as a whole. Im not going by ONE player per team, or even instances per game, just as a complete whole. The Serie A has the most dives followed by La Liga. Bundesliga and EPL (the other 2 main leagues in Europe) I see very little of it. Player for player, Italians have the most and the Portugal, Spain and Netherlands. It isnt that I am trying to knock these countries cause all of them have some of my favorite players (who I consider divers even), its just that its one part of their game(s) I cant stand.

i understand this thought in principle, however, a (last) defender fouling an attacker is not necessarily the same as denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity; which is the basis for the redcard misconduct.
