2010 World Cup talk

Wow I cannot believe they missed that handball on China.

What I was saying that you could switch a few things around, putting gattuso or someone like that in the central back and they will not be punished nearly as much as cote

De Rossi has shown he is capable in an offensive role when he plays for "la Nazionale" but I worry about his consistency because he is asked to play more of a defensive role with Roma. Camoranesi is hurt but he's a straight winger, Zambrotta has played in the midfield but leaving his left back spot would leave a huge hole in Italy's defense.

Confirmed.......Rio Ferdinand is out of the World Cup with knee ligament damage:

Ferdinand has been snake bitten before when it's time for a huge international tournament.

LOL........make up call for Henry's blatant handbal against Ireland?
  • Sage

    Wow.

Drogba is going to have surgery and hopes to be fit in 10 days.

It was almost scandalous........FIFA should have honored Ireland's request for a replay of that game.

Drogba news is good, and honestly, it shouldnt be a problem. I played with a broken wrist in HS 2 days after I broke it. Just put a cast on it and you are the one in control lol. Granted an arm is a little bit more painful and tougher to avoid contact than a wrist, but you can immobilize a broken bone and still play soccer. He really should be perfectly fine.

As for the France Ireland match....the missed handball was atrocious. BUT, Ireland still needed to score or win in PKs to advance. It wasnt as if the goal DIRECTLY kept them out, but I understand the obvious outcry over it.

BTW, just received my jersey today in the mail. These home whites are sick!!!

    Nice^ Gotta get one myself!
  • Laley23
Nigeria's John Obi Mikel now ruled out. This is getting to be a bit ridiculous.

Anyone watching the USA game? Buddle scores early on an Australian giveaway. The field looks worse than my high school field.

More injury news... Arjen Robben suffered a hamstring injury yesterday against Hungary.

This is getting out of hand. The amount of stars that will miss the WC is kind of depressing to a point.
  • hoops23
Good news for the Dutch, but I'm not sure he'll play and if he does, how effective will he be now?
  • ohiobucks1
Robben = Key to the Dutch success...Ask my avatar

edited: Which used to be him

    lol

Nani will miss the World Cup.

Add his name to a list of depressing omits from the WC.

That's rough for Portugal. This is turning into the episode of the Simpsons with the power plant softball team. I'm fully expecting Eto'o to show up with a grotesquely swollen jaw due to nerve tonic overdose.
  • Automatik
I'm actually glad Nani is out. I can't stand that prancing douche.
  • Mulva
(Insert clever Nani Nani boo boo joke here).

I can't say I'm too disappointed that he won't be playing either. It is a blow to Portugal though.

Italy's Pirlo is targetting their last group game for his return from injury:
