If you could switch team allegiance, who would be your new team?
-
BigAppleBuckeyeI am a long-suffering Mets fan, and I always joke about switching teams, but in my heart I know it's an impossibility -- I love these shitty Metropolitans too much.
That being said, IF you could ditch your favorite team (in any sport), who would your new team be and why?
My new team would be the Minnesota Twins. I love that they succeed in a system that isn't suited for them to do so -- they are a small market, but always field a competitive team, plus they play in a gorgeous new park and feature two of my favorite MLB players in Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau.
What about you? -
j_crazyThe only other team I like enough to consider jumping ship is the Texans, but I love the Dolphins too much to consider.
I wish I didn't like the Indians, but baseball is so bad I don't have a back up in place. -
HereticThe Harlem Globetrotters. I'd be happy after every game!

krazie45Hmm...interesting topic. I think I would go something like this being a Cleveland fan.
Minnesota Twins-also love how they succeed as a small market team and don't make excuses. They develop talent and then spend the money to sign the talent and have a winning team. They're always a contender and don't have phenomenal drop offs like the Indians.
San Francisco 49ers-growing up I rooted for San Fran when the Browns were gone. Jerry Rice was my favorite player and even now I still hope they do well. Mike Singletary is a great coach and brings a great philosophy. Not to mention great tradition with 5 super bowls.
Portland Trailblazers-love the small market, love the rose garden, Brandon Roy is a baller and I always root for Greg Oden. Also red black is a great uniform combo and Nate McMillen is a great coach (more than can be said about Mike Brown). The Cavs are my favorite pro sports team so this one was a little harder to pick since I can't imagine rooting for a different team but if I had to pick it would be the Blazers. -

Fab4RunnerI think that if I wasn't a fan of my teams I'd just follow individual players instead. Otherwise I'll need to put more thought into the question.

Hb31187NBA-OKC (KD and Westbrook are the duo i enjoy watching the most)
NFL- Jets(Love rex ryans attitude towards things haha) -
se-alumI would switch to:
Baseball- Tampa Bay
Football- Indianapolis
Basketball- Portland -
BCBulldogI would love to be able to switch teams as a Browns and Reds fan. I just can't do it. It's a part of who I am. When the Browns were stolen out of Cleveland, I still was a Browns fan. I watched the NFL, but I just watched good matchups and followed certain players, not teams.

Pretty much the same here. With the early uncertainty as to whether a team would be brought back to Cleveland, I never found myself rooting for (or wanting to) another team. If the Browns left again, I'd be done with football.BCBulldog wrote: When the Browns were stolen out of Cleveland, I still was a Browns fan. When I hear stories of how Browns fans went to the dark side (became Steelers fans) when they left makes me want to puke. I'm sure Steelers fans would feel the same way if the shoe was on the other foot. -
Hb31187Lol its a hypothetical question...I mean I understand you're fans of a certain team and have an allegiance to them. Thats all good...but seriously you cant even think of another team youd like to pull for?

mallymal614I know this is a Pro sports thread, but one of the most frustrated games I witness was when my Ohio State football buckeyes lost to Michigan in 2000. After the game, I was trying my hardest to find another team to root for because Coach Cooper was making me sick. However, he was fired weeks later.

No, that's the point I was trying to make. There is no option for other teams. I've been through this with the Browns and know how it goes for me.Hb31187 wrote: Lol its a hypothetical question...I mean I understand you're fans of a certain team and have an allegiance to them. NilesPacManNBA- Minnesota Timberwolves ---> Oklahoma City Thunder (Kevin Durant and Westbrook)
MLB- Seattle Mariners ---> Tampa Bay Rays (I love their youth, but this may be a front-runner move.)
NFL- Jacksonville Jaguars ---> Arizona Cardinals
NHL- Anaheim Ducks ---> Dallas Stars -
BigAppleBuckeyeBefore the BoSox won their first title since 1918 several years ago, I kindof pulled for them, as we share a hatred for the Yankees and I have always been enamored with Fenway Park. Now that they are "winners," just can't jump on that bandwagon. I kindof want an AL team to pull for, but my heart just doesn't let me care like I do when the Mets win or lose.

GoChiefsWhen the Browns left, I found myself drawn towards the Eagles a bit, so I'd have to say the Eagles in the NFL.
Reds fan, but would probably just give up baseball. Don't watch it anyways. Lol
NBA, Miami Heat fan now, would go with the Cavs since I follow them now anyways.
Michigan to, hmmm, probably another Big 10 team not named the Buckeyes.
NASCAR, Already switched favorite drivers once before. Wife won't allow it again. -
2kool4skoolI'm a Cleveland fan in all 3 sports. If I had to switch.
Milwaukee Brewers - Loved how they supported the Indians when they had to play a few home games there because of the weather.
Phoenix Suns - Like Steve Nash and Steve Kerr. Exciting brand of basketball.
Indianapolis Colts - Like Peyton Manning and would love to see him shut people up about the "not clutch" thing. -
j_crazyAfter more thought:
NBA - Hornets - CP3, West, Peja
MLB - Giants - Lincecum
NFL - Texans - M. Williams, A. Johnson, Ryans, Slaton'
NHL - Hurricanes - I think they used to be the Whalers. -

slingshot4everBad thread, you can a ALWAYS ditch your favorite team. So what do you mean if you could, you always can! BTW, I would NEVER switch teams.
-
Strapping Young LadNHL- I'd be a Coyotes fan. Always felt bad for them. If not them than either Detroit or Montreal.
MLB- Boston or Baltimore
NFL-Arizona ( fell in love with them during that SB when they should've beat PGH) -
THE4RINGZBrewers
Packers
Bucks.
For some reason I have always been fascinated with the City of Milwaukee -
KnightXC1MLB - Colorado, love Tulowitski and Helton
NBA - San Antonio
NHL - Either Montreal or Toronto
NFL - Never had anything against the Browns so would probably go with them
