Roethlisberger Trashed by SI Article

  • Prescott
This is the story of guy who fell in love with his persona and wasn't mature enough to handle the fame and the riches that came his way.

He himself is usually trashed anyways.

Fuck reading all that. That long of an article on this now? This issue should be dead by now.

The article is not all about the "Issue".
  • SQ_Crazies
It wouldn't exist without it, so yes, it is.

Another Ben thread. I'm shocked. You Steeler haters better get your rocks off now because when he gets back from his 4 game suspension, he'll beat the living hell out of the Clowns. Then we'll see who's laughing. I cant wait!!!

All I heard in this message was muffled sounds of sucking ballsack.

They've been talking about this SI article all day here on the radio in Pittsburgh. IMO, it's another attempt to sell magazines off the rack at a premium price and get more hits on SI's website at the expense of someone's misfortunes. A lot of that article is here say, just like the story of Ben being videoed on his bike without a helmet and flipping the cameraman the bird........KDKA dismissed it.

Yeah, Ben has some issues but the guy has never been charged for a crime in his life, leave it to the media to exploit his story and the popularity of the Steelers to make money. Why aren't the good things in sports being reported more often than the bad?

Some of us have an attention span longer than that of a third grader. YMMV.

Ben Roethlisberger is from Findlay, Ohio.

I knew he was a dick before SI, apparently.
  • Prescott
    You Steeler haters better
    I'm a Steeler's fan, not a hater.

4 Championships that are remotely comparable to Super Bowl wins. AAFC titles don't count.

Roethlisberger and the media have never had a cozy relationship. And there are certainly some that like to take their shots at the Steelers. I'd say the same thing could happen with a Boston, NY or Dallas team, but I don't think they have the same combination of bible thumping yinzer fans and a holier-than-thou owner.

About the only thing the media and public enjoy more than putting someone on a pedestal is knocking them off it.

Just imagine what it would be like if Ben had, you know, actually been proven to have done something bad.

Good lord, the guy talks trash in pick-up games! Everyone say it with me: T.H.U.G. :)

Truth. I'm not an Al, where I discount pre-Super Bowl championship wins as legit titles, but there's no way I'm giving full credit to second-tier league championships where you were one of two (out of 8...7 in the final season) teams from a short-lived dealie to get NFL status, as opposed to simply vanishing.
  • NNN
I'd want to sweep that whole era under the rug too, if my team's history looked like this.

From 1933-1971 (39 seasons), Pittsburgh boasted the following.

    15 head coaches
    7 winning seasons
    A 168-270-18 record (.388)
2 mergers with other teams (and a 5-14-1 record)
1 postseason game, which wasn't a title game but rather a divisional playoff game
    0 postseason wins
    0 postseason points

Basically, take everything that Cleveland has done since 1999, multiply by 3.5, and you're almost on the pathetic level that was Pittsburgh football for their first 39 years.
  • Heretic
Yep, the way Pittsburgh turned it around after 1971 should be enough to give Cleveland fans hope that, yes, one day, they will be able to boast about their team's accomplishments post-Jim Brown. I wholeheartedly agree with you, Triple-N! If you believe, even miracles can happen!!!!

I read that article, I am not a Steelers fan, but I do enjoy watching Ben play. The guys mind is not right. I'm sure we could all agree that it would be so easy to fall into the trap of money and fame, but when you are in a position where the colors you wear are bigger than the name on the back, you need to respect those colors and the people who bleed those colors. Ben has done some pretty screwed up things, and said some terrible things. All the meanwhile, he keeps apologizing and continuing to disappoint. I really hope he learns his lesson from the negativity and bad karma chasing him, but I will remain skeptical until I see him hold his own. The people he is hanging out with sound like the kid of people that either encourage his behavior or just turn their head. He needs to get some new friends and move forward. Would be nice to see him do some charity work for kids, his town, and for a battered women's shelter. Let him see first hand the type of monster he could turn into. I don't want another apology, I want action. Show us Ben... Grow up and become a responsible adult, then you can become a responsible millionaire with fame.
