Apathy for Tribe Already?
-
TBone14They lose again tonight. Jake Westbrook hasn't won a game since April of 08. No threads on the first 2 pages. Is everybody focusing on the Cavs or does nobody really care? Judging by the attendence..it could be the latter.
-
TBone14This is the 5th straight series the Tribe has lost and looks to avoid the sweep tomorrow as its Morrow vs Carmona.
-
daveUntil they get an owner that actually shows he cares about the fan base it won't get any better. I still want to see them win but I don't care when they lose anymore.
-
TBone14The NATS closer Matt Capps has 11 saves. The Indians have 10 wins.
-
burt07They're pretty unbelievably bad. I ordered MLB TV on my computer for a month so I can watch them over here until I come back home and it's just been a depressing experience to watch the games. The combination of the hitting, spotty pitching at times, and morgue-like atmosphere for the crowd is just extremely ugly.
-
sportswizuhrdRecord is now 10-16. Last place by half a game and out of first game by 7 games. 21
This blew me away because it was the Nationals we are talking about. He has more saves than three teams. Did not realize the Nats are doing so well.TBone14 wrote: The NATS closer Matt Capps has 11 saves. The Indians have 10 wins.
I checked the standings to see the Central Divisions standings and looking around the league, another stat blew me away. 21 of the 30 MLB teams have between 10-15 wins. -
hoops23Jake Westbrook is ass.
The Indians offense, outside of a few, are ass. -
THE4RINGZApathy is the right word. Tanking this early in the season will hurt the Dolans tremendously. I mean if they are even paying attention.
-
Mr. 300Welcome back to the 70's people. It sickens me to watch this team play. I watched some at bats last night that mirror those of our youth league players.
Thank goodness we can go to Akron or Columbus for a lot less $$$$ and see the same caliber of player on the field. -
Drums of WarI was at the game last night. Great free tickets (thanks boss), and it was almost painful to watch. I have never seen hitters at any level stand and watch more fastballs thrown right down the pipe go by. Then, with an 0-2, 1-2, or 2-2 count they swing at junk in the dirt! Good hitters realize pitching patterns, like 0-2, 1-2, ball is going to be in the damn dirt to get you to chase. It is so very very frustrating to watch Branyon fan three times in one game. Where is LaPorta? He can use the experience to get better, and if he goes 0-4 with 3 strikeouts everything stays equal! BTW if Valbuena can't even lay down a bunt at the major league level, I am more than happy to give him a ride on my way home to AKRON!! It was nice to see all 125 fans at the game last night.
-
Laley23I mean I care still, but they are bad, and thus not really worth talking about. I watch them every night, and follow the scores when I cant watch. But posting about them just isnt fun anymore.

+1...and it's going to make for a long summer :-/THE4RINGZ wrote: Apathy is the right word. Tanking this early in the season will hurt the Dolans tremendously. I mean if they are even paying attention. -

That's why I can't understand why the media is saying the Red Sox are done already. LOL, it's so funny to watch the media overreact about everything and the fans follow blindly.sportswizuhrd wrote: I checked the standings to see the Central Divisions standings and looking around the league, another stat blew me away. 21 of the 30 MLB teams have between 10-15 wins.
But I have apathy for the Tribe. Though I don't feel sorry for those dumbass fans that thought they might be good this year. If you didn't see it coming, then sorry, you're an idiot.
I'm glad no one is showing up too, because the owner doesn't deserve the fans money. Until he's gone, nothing will change. But I don't see there being a long line of rich owners that would line up to buy the Tribe. Especially with the Cavs being as big as they are right now. -
ts1227The fans are as apathetic as the owner.
-
sleeperThe Indians are terrible, and I don't like baseball enough to support them.
-
THE4RINGZIt is certainly a sad state of affairs on the reservation. Cleveland fans have proven to be very loyal, but enough is enough already. People no longer will waste what discretionary income they have on a dog shit team like this years Indians.
The Tribe isn't alone in this situation. I see other teams play before almost empty stadiums on almost a daily basis on MLB network.
The Dolans are to blame for the Indians but the entire league is suffering from apathetic fans. The steroid scandals hurt, and Bud Selig has single handily ruined the game for casual baseball fans like myself. -
SQ_CraziesI agree. Baseball is falling faster than ever. Tons of empty seats all over the league.
I really believe the general public is just tiring of baseball..other sports are on the up and up and baseball is kind of an old mans game. Even me. Baseball will forever be my favorite sport to play, but it's one of my least favorite to watch.
Little league numbers are down all over the place, kids are doing other things. Baseball is falling by the wayside. The roids certainly didn't help the cause. -
BlueDevil11Between the economy and the terrible team on the field, people are not willing to shell out big bucks to see a AAA team play. As mentioned earlier you can see about the same quality of players for a lot less money.
-
vball10set^^^agreed--I'd rather go to Fifth-Third Field and watch the Mud Hens ANY DAY !!!!
-
Fly4FunI know I plan on making it out to quite a few Clippers games this year... I can't remember the last time I went to a Major League game. I think MLB is a joke.
I enjoy going to a baseball game... attended most home games and a few away games of the Dartmouth baseball team. Granted I was friends with over half the team, but still that was fun. Clippers are fun as well, it's nice to see the stadium and go out before or after games in Arena district. I am not paying the money it costs to watch the MLB though.
They need to restructure their entire league so it's not Yankees/Red Sox and everyone else...
Yes yes, I know the "Look who's been winning lately... not just them" argument. But let's be realistic... it's not an even playing field and if you're a fan of a small market team there really isn't much a reason to care most of the time. -
tigerfan82^^^^ pretty much this! Baseball NEEDS a salary cap, like the others to even the playing field for all........not that i am a fan of Dolan, but most of the mid to small market teams struggle on a yearly basis. And before anyone chimes in that look at who is winning lately.........some teams do gear up and make a run for a short period of time, but overall, sorry Darby, it's the damn yankees, red sox, etc........that is the real reason baseball is slowly killing itself.............the roid scandal didn't help.
-
JakeGiantI have had this same debate on NOSF, and I think people take too much blame on the lack of salary cap.
-
tigerfan82^^^^^ "people take too much blame" what people??????
-
TBone14Don't look now but the Tribe are at it again. Peralta and Hafner strike out with RISP in the first and LaPorta drops a fly ball in left that leads to a Jays run. The Tribe have 0 hits and 5 of the 6 outs have been strikeouts.

WriterbuckeyePeople who use the argument of x number of different teams winning the World Series in the last 10 years ignore the fact that MOST of those teams (80 percent, perhaps) are the ones spending money. That gives them a CHANCE to be in it at the end.
Then there's the remainder of the league (about 15 teams) that have virtually NO chance to win anything, even with a hot streak here and there.
Even the Twins, who have been typically pointed to as being a small market (spending) team that has had success are spending almost $100 million on payroll this season.
If you look at payroll numbers for this season, the teams with even a remote chance of success are spending at least in the $90 million and up range -- compared to teams that simply aren't trying to complete who are spending in the $50 or $60 million range and less.
Why anyone who isn't a fan of one of the higher spending teams even bothers to waste their time and energy on baseball is a bit surprising to me.
After a while, even those who have followed the game for decades (I was one) simply decide to walk away and focus on other sports.
The red flags are there -- now whether baseball's top brass will acknowledge that, is another story.
