In all fairness, that was a lonnnngg time ago. (1972) I'm not saying it would succeed or anything, but a lot has changed since 1972.

there are a grand total of 3 states that have more than one NBA team, all 3 in the top 4 in population. If and when NJ moves to Brooklyn it would be 4 states, with all 4 being top 4 in population.

just going by that, I don't really see Ohio becoming a state with more than one team (even though we are #7 in population)

I don't believe it has -- and I don't believe the NBA will be running to give a franchise to a city that failed miserably to support its last venture, regardless of how long ago it happened. The team left for Kansas City, for crying out loud, and we see how that turned out.
Ever heard of the Charlotte Hornets?

Drew under an average of 13K during the playoffs in '03 (I think it was '03) and the next season found themselves in New Orleans.

A couple years later, Charlotte has another franchise.

I am so sick of hearing Columbus wouldn't support an NBA team. Columbus would definitely support one. We're CAVS fans in Cbus for the most part because Cleveland is in Ohio. If there's a team in Cbus, than sorry Cavs, I'm switching my allegiance. I'll still root for the CAVS to do well, but I'd root for Columbus to beat them. Columbus could support a team.
