Both good defensively. That isn't close?
Like I said, I'd take Pujols too, but you can't go wrong with either. And it isn't like the Phillies haven't won with Howard. -
SQ_Crazies
Funny you should say that because I didn't see your argument anywhere on this thread.SportsAndLady wrote:
Nice argumentSQ_Crazies wrote: No, Pujols is the better player, but Howard has come into his own and it is fairly close. Much closer than most realize. -
Laley23SQ, give me OPS, OPB, Ks, SBs, VORP, H, and TB
I have no clue what they look like, but I can only imagine that Albert blows Howard out of the water in Ks, OBP and OPS
I also want to point out that until last half of the year(Holliday), Pujols had nobody while Howard has Utley and Rollins, and to a lesser extent Victorino. -
SQ_CraziesI mean, you can look them up yourself. Like I've said 3 or 4 times now, I'd take Pujols. But give Howard the credit he deserves--he doesn't get enough because people see Albert's face all over the TV.

Oh he is great, I just happen to think that he is no where near Pujols. I would look them up but I am about to go eat dinner. Maybe I will tonight.SQ_Crazies wrote: I mean, you can look them up yourself. Like I've said 3 or 4 times now, I'd take Pujols. Id say he is the 4th best 1B in the game.
1. Pujols
2. Miggy
3. Teixiera
4. Howard (just before Prince) -
SQ_CraziesI'm a Yankee fan and I'd take Howard over Tex all day.
-
KnightXC1Pujols for sure simply because of the much higher average, fewer K's, higher OBP, and is better defensively. Howard is good but Pujols is just better at this point.
-
Laley23
It just a personal preference for the last 3 players.SQ_Crazies wrote: I'm a Yankee fan and I'd take Howard over Tex all day.
I like the average and switch hitting ability Tex brings. If we are talking about the actual question (for the next 5 years) Id take Prince because of his youth over both Howard and Tex. -

Hmm, now I'll be the first one to say that Pujols is the best player in the league right now, but even if he keeps up his current production for another 6-7 years, he wouldn't crack the top 25.devil1197 wrote: Pujols is not only a beast at the plate but he is very good defensively too.
Pujols may go down as the best player ever if he keeps up his production another title. -
SQ_CraziesHmm..not sure about that.

Dude is already in the top 25. -
mhs95_06I agree with Bobby Cox, that Pujols is worth twice as much as Howard. If Howard is worth $25 mil a year, then Albert is worth $50 mil!
-
SQ_CraziesNo player is worth 50 million a year.
Only way you'd be worth 50 million a year would be if you were an everyday player, gold glover, put up the best power numbers ever and hit over .500. -
killdeerPujols.

SQ_CraziesYou've gotta be kidding me with that list.
That list tells me all I need to know, you're an old schooler that hasn't even paid enough attention to Pujols to form that opinion. -
Laley23Ok, well I didnt think we were gonna include pitchers, because frankly that is just impossible to do.
But, how wont he touch those guys???

MVP voting top 10 every year, top 4 every year but 2007, runner up 3 times and won the award 3 times.
Just picked one guy randomly off your list (Lou Gehrig) and he is well on his way to beating Lou in the above categories. Not to mention Albert is already beat Lou in all the MVP voting. -

Good job, you picked the guy who had to retire before his time due to a deadly illness and died at the age of 37. His last year and a half of his career he played through the symptoms of his disease which brought his numbers down.Laley23 wrote: Ok, well I didnt think we were gonna include pitchers, because frankly that is just impossible to do.

My apologies to everyone for not just picking the current best player in baseball and crowning him the best of all time. I know a tad more about baseball than that to have that sort of myopic opinion. But please, ridicule me for being "old school", if that means I know what I'm talking about and you guys don't. -
