Pirates are on cruise control for their record setting 18th straight losing season.
Another puny payroll...and another embarassment for major league baseball. -
hoops23Looks like the Pirates need to play the Tribe to get their pitching back in order.
-
HereticOr vice versa, LTrain. Our pitching is far worse than I imagined in my worst-case scenario. Fucking Peralta would go 4-5 against us right now...
-
killer_ewokPathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

HereticFUN FACT:
In that salary list, Duke, Maholm and Doumit are the only players making over $1M who weren't brought in as one-year veteran stopgaps (to bridge the gap before some of the minor league prospects start getting ready) or via trade last year (in the case of Cedeno).
It would be nice if two of those "high paid" vets didn't do things like combine for 9 runs in the eighth inning to turn a loss that was simply bad into a humiliation like Dotel and Donnelly did last night. I woke up, saw it ended up 17-3 and was like, "Whoa...I don't remember it being nearly that bad when I stopped paying attention!"
It's just sad. A. McCutchen, LaRoche (after coming back from back spasms) and Meek are doing good. Hanrahan's ERA is inflated due to one horrible outing. Donnelly's been adequate outside of last night. Church has been solid in a limited role. Ohlendorf's one start before back spasms set in was okay. Jones started out with two great games at the plate. That's it. No more positives. Only one crushing negative after another. Horrible starting pitching, horrible relief, horrible hitting.
