Sorry Kobe, but...

sleeperDurant is the 2nd best player in the league. Can we please just crown the kid already?
Thoughts? -
jpake1Maybe in a few years he'll be the 2nd best player. The young man isn't there yet. I don't know if he's even top 5 right now.
-
Fly4FunHe's most certainly top 5.
1) LeBron
2) Wade/Durant/Carmelo
5) Dwight/Kobe/Dirk -

I agree with this, although, I think Wade and Melo have more complete games than Durant.Benny The Jet wrote:

jpake1I just have a different opinion. But since it doesn't agree with sleeper, I must be high.
Durant is a hell of a scorer. However, he's still young and I want somebody with more experience during high pressure games. I want somebody that is better on defense. I want somebody that makes their teammates better (something I don't think he's learned yet, luckily for him, the young guys around him do a well enough job of getting better on their own). He's healthy, he's got no half way decent excuse to be shooting like absolute shit when it matters most. At least Kobe has a fucked up finger on his shooting hand. But I don't expect anybody to care about that. Most people on here want to see him fail so bad. NONE of the superstars would be playing as well as normal if they had the same injury. But you can bet your ass there would be more sympathetic people on here if it was LBJ, or even Wade for that matter.
My list goes like this... LBJ, Wade, Kobe, Howard, then Melo. Durant is probably sixth. But he has some people right on his ass like a healthy CP3, amongst others. -
Swamp FoxI'm not a Kobe fan by any means, but I wouldn't make Kobe unnecessarily angry. He's going to be tough enough anyway. I think LeBron is the best player in the NBA but I am going to have to put Kobe in the number two position, based on his experience and particularly in his experience and performance in the games that really mean somrthing. I know that a lot of people dislike Kobe because of non-basketball reasons, but solely as a player, Kobe is still awfully hard to stop.

I'm sorry, but who's the better player? Unless we are basing this on more APG, ya know because Durant's position is GUARD(LOL), Durant blows away Kobe and it's not even close.
Oh but Kobe has a hurt finger =( QQ, he should have taken care of that earlier in the season. -
jpake1You're not young enough to believe that stats tell the whole story are you? I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong, or vise versa. I think Durant is 2nd in the MVP voting. I've given him props. I still don't think he's the 2nd best player. Those stats don't tell me that. The stats from last year comparing LBJ and Wade would leave me to say that Wade was the best player in the world. But, I know he wasn't. The stats didn't tell the whole story. I don't know if you would, but I think a lot of people would say its real close, but Wade may have edged him out. But those people definitely weren't saying BOOM that makes Wade the best, he has the better stats.

5. Dwight Howard
6. CP3
7. Dirk
8. Brandon Roy
9. Durant
When you're that young and that far up the list, that's pretty amazing. But he ain't there yet. He's not well rounded enough YET. He'll be up there someday, although I'm not sure he'll ever pass LeBron, Wade and Melo until they start really slowing down. -
jpake1My point exactly, he's not a well enough rounded player yet. He doesn't make his teammates better. He has solid defensive stats, but he's not a very good NBA defender yet. He'll pass some of those guys in the next 2-3 years.

SageRank Kobe where you will Cavalier fans, I ain't riding out with anybody else.

SQ_CraziesWouldn't expect you to.

Swamp FoxStatistics are important certainly, in determining the quality of the various NBA Players, but I think that statistics are over-rated generally speaking. It's what your team is able to accomplish and how much you contribute to your teams' longevity in the play-offs that count more in my opinion and Kobe in the clutch is awfully hard to beat historically.
