Was he just not athletic enough to play the rush OLB (can't go into coverage)?justincredible wrote: Vernon Gholston will be on that list in the near future. What a waste that guy was. -
SonofanumpIf ranking them in order Tony Mandarich would be first.

I'm by no means a Gholston (can't stand Ohio State) apologist but he might be able to revive his career if he was to hook up with a team like Tennessee and put his hand back in the dirt. I think one of the knocks on him coming out was whether he could be good in coverage.The_Crosby_Show wrote:

Agreed. I'm a huge Ohio State fan, but I never thought Gholston was versatile enough to be an OLB in the NFL. If he can find a team that will allow him to put his hand on the ground, and use his quickness that made him a potential OLB - I think he'll be a solid defensive lineman in the NFL.BR1986FB wrote:

Manhattan Buckeye"Was he just not athletic enough to play the rush OLB (can't go into coverage)? "
I don't know VG personally, but from what I've heard he's a guy that is incredibly if not freakishly athletic, that just happened to be a football player as opposed to a football player who was freakishly athletic, in other words his head/heart has never been into football. Athleticism alone can work even at the top college programs, but not in the NFL. Any kind of success requires a lot of work. He's young so hopefully he can turn it around. -
The EqualizerAs a Steeler fan I can't help but think of Huey Richardson. Oh the humanity.
