Draft question for Browns fans....

  • BR1986FB
Stolen from the OBR....three part question....

    1) What will thrill you (players landed, where they are landed) in this draft?

    2) What will thoroughly piss you off (players drafted, where they are landed/picked)?

    3) What will you be "not thrilled about but OK with" (players drafted, where they are picked) in this draft?
  • hangonsloopy
    1. If we land Berry/Thomas and McCoy with our 1st 2 picks.

    2. JIMMY CLAUSEN

    3. Trading down and getting a d lineman or someone that isnt a real impact player. Or if we drafy Tebow.
  • DeyDurkie5
    1. If we get an immediate impact offensive playmaker in the later rounds

    2. If we draft solely defensive and don't go after the offensive needs

    3. Honestly, drafting Tebow(pains me to say it though)
  • BR1986FB
It can be more than one answer for each question.

    1) I would be thrilled if we landed Berry or Thomas with our 1st pick
If we landed McCoy or a good rush LB with our 2nd pick (2nd round)
If we don't take McCoy with our 2nd pick, we take the best available QB with our 3rd pick (1st pick in 3rd round)
Best Wr available with 2nd pick in the 3rd round
I would be really thrilled if we could land more picks somehow
    2) I would be pissed if we take a RB or WR at 7
    3) I would be OK with, but not thrilled if we took McClain with our 1st pick

    1. Berry and McCoy
    2. Clausen
    3. Haden or Earl Thomas
  • BCBulldog
    1. Sam Bradford without giving up much to get him. I know, I know, but a guy can dream. More likely to happen, Berry in the first, McCoy in the late first or early second(trade), and Spikes in the third.

    2. Drafting Clausen at all, trading up for Bradford and giving up too much, trading down without getting Haden, McCoy or multiple top 100 picks.

    3. Missing out on Berry and selecting Haden without being able to trade down to get him and a pick or two.

    My exact thinkings.

    1. (a) Berry, McCoy, Jacoby Ford and Montario Hardesty as first four picks. Would be ideal for me. I really think Hardesty will be the sleeper RB of the draft.
    (b) Berry and Golden Tate if McCoy is no longer there. I'd hate to waste another 2nd on a WR but I think Tate will be a stud in the league.

    2. (a) Dez Bryant. WRs are so hit or miss early in draft. Browns absolutely cannot afford to miss.
    (b) Trading up for Bradford (as long as we don't mortgage the future)
    (c) Joe Haden at 7. Would be a terrible reach imo.

    3. Trading down and getting Spiller, Thomas or (gasp!) Taylor Mays.

I'm gonna echo others on here because it's the same song I've been singing all along:

    (1) Berry or Thomas, along with McCoy would make this draft special, regardless of what else we get.
    (2) If we draft Clausen I think I'll be swimming in gin for several days.
    (3) Trading up to get Bradford and giving up too many quality picks.

I would even be okay with trading down, provided it meant that we still end up with Thomas and McCoy as the centerpieces of the draft.

My thoughts exactly. Although, I think I would be happy if we went after a quality offensive lineman instead of Thomas. Berry is my number 1 target though

Well, BR, it didn't take you long to get that post count up! I REALLY want the Browns to pick up Tim Hiller!

After more research, I'm locked in on an "All Texas" first two picks. I want Earl Thomas (over Berry) and Colt McCoy.

    1) Ideally, we can trade down one or two picks, pick up another draft pick and then grab Thomas and McCoy. I also want Jacoby Ford.

    2) I will be pissed if we take Clausen or Haden at #7. Will also be furious if we mortgage the future to move up to #1. Will blow a gasket if we select Dez Bryant.

    3) I would be OK with Haden at 13-17 and I also would be OK with trading down 10-13 and grabbed Iupati (who is vaulting up draft boards).

This. Seriously, the exact same thing.

This. Except, for you know, that whole sentence with the word "Tebow" in it.

    1. None, because Suh will not fall past 2.
    2. Anyone but Berry or Thomas.
    3. Berry or Thomas.

You've been listening to Reghi I take it because he was hyping Texas guys hard yesterday, as he wants Thomas over Berry as well.

Actually I've been buying into Thomas the more & more I hear about him. McCoy I've been pretty high on for awhile.

I don't think there's much dropoff, if any, in Thomas' game. I think that Berry will be a more physical player but I think Thomas will create a lot more turnovers.
  • Non
If Thomas was two inches taller he would be a lock as an elite-rated defensive back. He can cover the deep part of the field at free safety and he can cover receivers, particularly in the slot. He is a good tackler. Creates turnovers. And probably can blitz and make some things happen that way. Both Thomas and Berry will only be 21 as rookies which is also a slight bonus over taking someone who is 23. After six full seasons he will only be 26 and then will turn 27 which is considered the prime age. I think the 5'10 is the only negative and it's the reason he's been put in the 15-20 range.

On a another topic, I don't get the Rams thinking that Bradford missed most of last season so therefore they shouldn't take him and they should take somebody that is ready to play right away. That's some pretty backwards thinking if it's true. If you don't have enough confidence in Feeley, Null or Reilly to start the season opener, that's your own fault. Go get a Jeff Garcia or somebody. The QB you take in the draft should be the one you think is the best of the group for the future not the first few games of 2010.
  • BR1986FB
Yeah, I've heard that the Rams could be lowering their price tag to trade out of the #1 spot.
  • Non
I think there is a good chance of the Rams trading that pick.

They're not a good organization right now to begin with which shows they're shaky in making personnel decisions. Not having even a solid QB on the roster to give Bradford or another QB time to develop already shows the lack of a solid plan. And I just think they might overthink things having the first pick and will end up doing something more dramatic than just staying put.
