lol at me missing this part, you are a damn fool cant wait to hear your explanationSQ_Crazies wrote: LOL there is no spin that can be put on this. Phil Jackson, while a good coach, is the single most overrated coach in the history of the sports probably. He's not getting in Durant's head, he's just lighting a fire. Chances are it won't come back to haunt him, but just because it doesn't, it doesn't mean it wasn't a bonehead thing to say.
They're the 8th seed.
They're hot, you're cold.
Durant is gearing up for his first playoff taste.
He's been playing lights out all year.
You're the DEFENDING CHAMP Lakers.
Do you think they need any more motivation? No. But this guy decides to complain to the officials before they series even starts--or maybe even use his pull to try and send them some bullshit message. If Artest gets away with rape on Durant in this series, watch the rumors flyyyyyyyyyy. -
SQ_CraziesHe is.
He gets credit for being one of the best coaches in the history of basketball.
Jordan/Pippen
Kobe/Shaq
Find 5 better duo's in the history of the NBA. Shit, find 3. You can't. This guy had both of them. I'm not overly impressed, I think there are a TON of coaches who would have the same amount of rings coaching those teams. Not saying he might not be a good coach, but he's overrarted. He's not one of the best ever. -
SageIt will be something like this, "Jordan, Pippen, Shaq, Kobe, Gasol" I could have coached those guys to championships!!!!"
Although, nobody fails to realize, talent =/= championships. The dude has WON TEN FUCKING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN UNDER TWENTY YEARS. That's just crazy. That's also not a coincidence. Especially in the NBA. Every coach that has won a championship has had a Hall of Famer (or two) on their roster. -
2quik4u
who in your opinion are the best coaches then?SQ_Crazies wrote: He is.

SageI would also love to know who he thinks the greatest coach in NBA history is. This should be pretty fucking comical.

http://thelakersnation.com/blog/2010/04/15/durant-phils-comments-were-disrespectful/“Because it’s taking away from what I do,” Durant said, according to The Oklahoman. “That’s a part of my game, getting to the free-throw line and being aggressive. If you say that I get superstar calls or I get babied by the refs, that’s just taking away from how I play. That’s disrespectful to me.
“I don’t disrespect nobody in this league,” Durant said, according to the report. “I respect every coach, every player, everybody. I never say anything bad about anybody else or question why they do this or do that. So for them to say that about me, I don’t even want to use no foul language.”

Looks like it was another masterstroke from Phil. Mission accomplished. -
SQ_CraziesI don't know who it would be. My argument stands though and is very valid. Laugh it up Sage, it's true. You don't win titles without players--when you only work for the teams with the best players, you're bound to look good. Like I said, not saying he isn't a good coach but he's overrated because he isn't one of the best ever.

SQ_Crazies
Will you say mission accomplished when he scores 40 in game 1 and the Lakers lose because Kobe goes 8/28 trying to keep up with him?Sage wrote:

SageIf it took a comment from Phil Jackson to inspire Kevin Durant to rip our throats out--then, he's not a guy I'm worried about over a series. Artest's weight is going to weigh on him, and the ball will be forced out of his hands more than he'd like.
Durant will get his. I have no doubt about it. I follow Kevin pretty closely, and he's a pretty calm guy. Phil's in his head if he came out and was this forward to comments regarding his game. He usually just thanks his detractors and mentions he's a "work in progress." -
SQ_CraziesPhil is not in his head. Durant will come out and play his game.
It isn't going to matter, the Lakers are going to win in 5 games probably. But it was a pretty fucking pointless comment to make from many different angles.
If Phil is this worried about getting in his head, then maybe since he's the GOAT coach--you should be a little more worried about KD than you are. -
sleeperIf Phil Jackson was the coach of the Cavs, he wouldn't win a damn game, not a DAMN GAME.
-
cviewThe Cavs/Bulls thread has 31 responses and the Lakers/Thunder thread has 62.
Oh you silly little fuckers. -
SQ_CraziesLakers/Thunder is a much more interesting series.

BUT WOULDNT LEBRON JAMES---THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME---BE ABLE TO WIN EVERY GAME IN SPITE OF PHIL JACKSON? SINCE KOBE IS ABLE TO WIN A GAME, WOULD THIS, THEN, USING UR LOGIC, MAKE KOBE > LEBRON!?!?!?!?!sleeper wrote: If Phil Jackson was the coach of the Cavs, he wouldn't win a damn game, not a DAMN GAME.
Your mind = blown. BTW, I'm heading to the bars, in ehhhh... two hourish. You in, clown? -
cviewDidn't you just say it would be over in 5 games? Ten seconds later it is a much more interesting series?
The entire thing is about Phil Jackson doing what he always does and throwing some verbal barbs with a Kobe going 8/28 shot thrown in there. There is no talk about the series itself.
Cough *inferiority complex* cough.
It'd probably be about the same length as the Cavs thread if not for the (fucking idiotic) comment about Phil Jackson being the most overrated coach in the history of team sports.
Continue on children. -

Which bars? -
SQ_CraziesIf Phil hadn't made fucking idiotic comments about Durant, this thread wouldn't be this long. This is certainly a more interesting series, regardless of me thinking the Lakers are still going to win it in 5. I don't think there is a chance in hell of the Bulls beating or challenging the Cavs. Unless there is a big time injury somewhere, won't happen. But if the Lakers don't turn it up, they could seriously get beat by the Thunder. I'm interested to see what happens--but in making my prediction, I fully expect to see a different LA team.

You didn't say maybe, you said probably. Go cover your ass again like you always do.SQ_Crazies wrote: LOL there is no spin that can be put on this. EDIT: Clever deletion of the post.
Ad lib: SQ says I may want to go back and read it because he said MAYBE and I should know he always covers his ass, fool. -
SQ_CraziesI did, and you failed because you cited the wrong post...haha, dumbass.
-
SQ_CraziesHahaha, told you I cover my ass.
In all honesty, I thought I said might be the most overrated--which is really what I meant. But since I said is, I'll stand by that. Even in saying might, I'm saying there is an argument for him. -

I told you what you actually said---you tell me I may want to reread it, call me a fool, yada yada yada. In the end it really isn't a big deal. At least you acknowledged it.SQ_Crazies wrote: Hahaha, told you I cover my ass.

I didn't fail at all. Nor was I the dumbass this time. -
SQ_CraziesWell I did delete it before you posted...I'm saying, had you cited the post I deleted then you could tell me I don't cover my ass. But you failed. LOL!
Like I said, I really did mean to say MIGHT BE and I thought I did. When I looked back and realized I didn't, I just deleted it and I'll stick by that I suppose. -

But anyways, exactly my point. Players win titles at the pro level in basketball, not coaches.
