Browns Would Give LeBron James A Shot

  • Sage
He'd be a boss TE/WR in the red zone. His prep film speaks for itself.
  • Quint
Iverson's a free agent. . . I think they should go after him.

Of course. . . he may have problems with Mangini's long practices. . . yeah. . .we talkin' 'bout PRACTICE.

The only thing I don't get about LeBron going to the NFL and all the talk that has always surrounded it--people always say he would make a great TE. Which is true...but what coach in their right mind wouldn't put LeBron out wide? You'd have to be stupid to put him at TE. I understand, he's huge and guys that big are TE's in the NFL, but he's Randy Moss with a TE body.

Also the notion that he couldn't take hits in the NFL. The dude weighs 270, no, he isn't used to being hit like that but I think he could hold his own.
  • dave
Lebron wouldn't have the speed of moss once he got his body ready for the NFL. he would be much more of a mismatch at TE. It's not like he would be on the line, he'd still be outside like a receiver.

The Browns front office is probably dumb enough to think if lebron tried to play in the nfl he would actually play for them.
  • wes_mantooth
I say let him go to the NFL......we have JJ Hickson, the GOAT in training.
  • Sage
Probably not fast enough on the outside. He'd dominate the middle of the field (opening up the outside for speedier receivers) and he'd be matched up against linebackers and nickelbacks. He would devour any one of them.
  • sleeper
He'd be the GOAT in football if he wasn't already the GOAT in basketball and you can take that to the bank.
  • SQ_Crazies
Not fast enough to play on the outside in the NFL??? BAHAHA!! I bet he runs in the 4.3's...oh, and he's 6'8.
  • newarkcatholicfan
The Browns would try anything to get fans to show up.
  • jpake1
Let's wait until the day he plays football to discuss it.
  • darbypitcher22
I'd put him at defensive end. What a freak he'd be with that reach and explosiveness off the ball
  • Hb31187
Lol just because you're a great HS Football player doesnt mean it would translate to the NFL

Plenty of people have the combine numbers and the size and just dont produce in the NFL
  • KevinJr
I never saw LeBron play football, but I was in high school at around the same time. I talked with a few guys who played against him and a couple of coaches who saw him play that said he wasn't that impressive. ASVM basically ran him deep every play and threw it up for him to go get it. He also had a reputation for being pretty soft (which, considering how much he milks it every time he crashes to the floor, shouldn't be that surprising).

If he dedicated himself to football and got a bit of a mean streak in him, he could be a once in a generation tight end. He would make Tony G, Antonio Gates, and Kellen Winslow look like bums.
  • SQ_Crazies
LOL, really? Because some of the most well known and well respected recruiters in the country said he was the best prospect they'd seen since Randy Moss. And you're right, when you're first team All-Ohio as a sophomore you can't be that sweet.
  • Hb31187
Lol and because you're a sweet highschool prospect means youd undoubtedly be a NFL player right? They never rate kids wrong
And because you have the combine numbers means youd be a solid NFL player right?

If you bitch and moan about your wrist hurting, and act out all your fouls like youve been sucker punched....how do you think youd feel getting hit in the ribs by a safety when you go up for a jump ball? Best player in the NBA yes....NFL player....not so much
  • SQ_Crazies
No, it doesn't mean anything. But if you don't think he could play in the NFL then you're an idiot. Antonio Gates was a basketball player, not near the level of LeBron but All-State in Michigan. Also All-State in football. Plays basketball in college and then football in the NFL. He's 6'4, 260. LeBron, a WAY better athlete, is labelled as one of the best prep football talents in the country as a SOPHOMORE. He's 6'8, 270 and Antonio Gates can't run like LeBron in his dreams. No one questioned whether Gates could take the hits--he seems to be doing alright for himself doesn't he?

And you're really going to call him on the wrist? LOL! Well you told me one thing about yourself, you've never dunked--or not actually dunked anyways. The rim hurts man, especially when you're throwing them down as hard as he can.

And for the record, I don't give a damn. I hope to God he never goes to play football--especially for the Browns. But if you don't think he could play RIGHT NOW in the NFL, you're an idiot. Plain and simple. One of the best, maybe THE best pure athlete in the world.
  • Hb31187
Once again, If everyone doesnt agree with SQ's opinion that Lbj could play in the NFL we're all idiots. Size does not matter when being able to take a hit... Warrick Dunn could take a hit better then 3/4 of the running backs ever to play in the NFL and hes tiny. Maurice Clarett was a hulk of a RB and always was dinged up with "stingers" and what not. Just because you have the size doesnt mean you can take punishment.

Lol, im aware that it hurts...but its his own fault for being an idiot and throwing down overly hard because they got beat 1 game in the regular season. And if you're going to whine about a wrist injury hed be on the injury report every single week in the NFL.

And once again, just because you're a freak athlete doesnt mean you'll cut it in the NFL, Ask Charles Rogers or others who put up astronomical combine numbers and were "sure things" and ended up out of the NFL
  • Hb31187
And for the record im not saying he wouldnt PLAY in the NFL, somebody would take a shot on him on potential. Im saying he wouldnt pan out
  • Trueblue23
Not sure LeBron has the toughness to play in the NFL.
  • SQ_Crazies
LOL, well you said it. If you don't agree then you are an idiot. No one in their right minds would think LeBron couldn't play and do it WELL in the NFL. Nice job of tip toeing around Antonio Gates.
  • SQ_Crazies
And it isn't just me you're disagreeing with...the part that makes you an idiot is the people that make a living evaluating talent all agree with me. But I know what it's like--if he went and played one season and made the Pro Bowl, you'd probably still say he couldn't cut it in the NFL.
  • Hb31187
No one in their right mind, lol yeah okay. You mean the type of people who live in Ohio and think LBJ can walk on water. Are those the "right minds" you speak of? What do you want me to say about Gates? So hes a pro bowl player who plays TE and Used to play basketball. Congrats theres 1 person that can cut it( Im sure you're just waiting to say OMG WHAT ABOUT TONY GONZALEZ TOO@$#!!. Okay theres 2), im sure theres plenty of others who have tried to make the jump and failed and we dont know them bc they did just that...failed.

And once again, just because they evaluate talent doesnt mean theyre right? Sure they have more credibility than you or I but lets be real, they saw him as a HS sophomore and they swing and miss on college recruits ALL THE TIME. Im sure you could ramble off like 10 from the top of your head. And if he made a pro bowl hed be a great player lol, no arguing that.
  • SQ_Crazies
You don't swing and miss on a guy that is 6'8, 270 and is one of the best athletes the world has ever known.

Your hatred of LeBron is blinding you, period. These guys that evaluate talent, are the same guys that you'd put a lot of faith into--until it goes against your argument. I'll take their words. I'll take the words of Randy Moss who says LeBron could be a star in the NFL. I'll take the words of talent scouts that have seen every 5-star prospect in the last 30 years that said he was the best they'd seen since Randy Moss. And when you look at the path he was on, All-State as a sophomore, again as a junior and leading his team to the state semi's in OHIO, and couple that with his size/strength/speed/etc combo--how you can deny that there is greatness there as well, I don't understand. I mean really, you're talking about one of the best athletes the world has ever seen--don't give me the Calvin Johnson BS, first of all he's a good player on a bad team and second, he isn't on the level of LeBron athletically nor does he have the size. There is a HUGE difference, especially when you're talking pass catchers in the NFL between Calvin Johnson size and LeBron James size. Calvin Johnson size is GREAT. LeBron James size, for a pass catcher, would be legendary.

Do talent scouts swing and miss? They sure do--but you have to respect them for what they do. Kids get scholarship offers based on what those guys tell people, if they weren't right MOST OF THE TIME then that wouldn't happen.
  • Hb31187
Show me these quotes that Randy Moss and these scouts have? How is Calvin not as athletic as LBJ? He can run as fast and jump as high and id guarantee is just as strong if not stronger then LBJ(bball strength is different then football strength). So what exactly makes LBJ so much more athletic?

And not all great athletes make great NFL players. What you're saying is just as much speculation as what im saying, theres no real way of telling, unless he suits up.
